hello ive noticed when starting my 996 (1998)it has a ticking sound,it only hapens when its cold or been standing for a while,it lasts about 15 seconds then goes off,any thoughts
...it's perfectly normal (TADT) if, as you say, the sound vanishes within a couple of minutes. Nothing to worry about.
Phew, mine does that too, suspected it was just the hydraulic tappets, but nice to hear "TADT...Sir".
Incidentally, what oil is the preferred one for the water-cooled lumps? (as opposed to just what Porsche recommend in their handbooks)...any thoughts?
I've always used Millers fully synth in the Westfield (Vauxhall powered) and the Scoob, and have been pleased with it (well, neither have gone bang!...Vauxhall engine seems to live at 9000 quite happily without showing any unexpected signs of wear)....
