Porsche enthusiasts day at an aerodrome in Germany, porker going down the runway at 160 kph and a confused light aircraft pilot landed on his roof. The driver braked and the plane shot off the roof and crashed it seems! Everyone OK.

Those going to Brunters for VMAX take note...:)

Come to think of it, just as well it wasn't a cabriolet!

When I did research on dampers at uni, we used the university's own test track, which also was an ancient military airfield. A wide runway which is about 3km long and a twisting taxiway made an excellent circuit, which was extensively used to warm up the vehicles One scientific assitant once rolled a 911, after he slided over an orientation spotlight.

On one day, we used another test track (Bosch's in Boxberg), a new Cessna on its transit flight tried to make an emergency landing on the uni airfield. It crashed and burnt entirely, killing both occupants Luckily, no one used the track at that time.

I remember doing a photoshoot at Bruntingthorpe years ago, sharing the track with an articulated lorry doing tyre tests. He'd storm past every few minutes, all day long. At one point we got a radio message to vacate the track for a few minutes because a plane was about to land, so we all parked up at the end of the runway and waited. Turned out that the truck driver's radio was on the blink, and a minute or two later he appeared round the bottom bend and rumbled away down the straight over the hill.

At that moment the Cessna appeared overhead...

Never heard the bang or the sirens, so I guess they must have come to an adequate compromise down at the other end of the runway!
