Cleaning leather
Discussion
I use the Autoglym stuff. Its a spray on, rub off sort of product and gets the grim off fairly well.
Don't forget to "feed" the leather afterwards though, else the cleaning stuff will dry it out and make it prone to cracking. You can buy either automotive or furniture "leather food" - which is a buttery, creamy sort of stuff. It basically replaces the oils in the leather.
You need to give the food time to sink in. Otherwise you'll get it on your clothes in my experience. So put it on (according to the instructions) and rub it in and leave the car overnight if at all possible.

Wow. What an interesting thread. Leatherman's comments certainly go against "conventional wisdom" - but make good sense.
Perhaps, indeed, a little soap and water is the way to go!
Thanks chaps, read the other thread with interest.
Quite amusing the old boot polish on the sofa comment! I've got a leather sofa, not sure i'll try that just yet.
For the car, looks like a cold damp cloth with water and a little soap. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the advice.
Nice day out there. Time to get out and go topless!!
