PSE - software fault, anyone had one?

Has anyone ever had a software fault with their PSE system? Mine's been on the blink whereby pressing the button lit up the light on the console but didn't change the exhaust note - the valves were stuck open all the time.

Supposedly it's been fixed by adding some clips to the hoses on the exhaust silencer valves as they were missing, but I'm not convinced that's true. Plus, even if the clips were missing, I'm guessing the vacuum should still work if the pipes are attached. The clips just stop them vibrating off?

I'm wondering if a software reset has sorted it, but I've not heard of any issues cured that way. Has anyone else? Or are there any other fixes that require no parts?

This is on a 718 GT4 by the way, but I think the same vacuum system has been used on many Porsche models and variants.
