Porsche v Aston...fight!
Discussion
Right chaps, Harry Hill time.
Away team: DBS Superleg, cpl of yrs old
Home team: Brand new 911 Turbo
Both cost v similar.
Im going to put a similar thread up in the Aston section, so both teams can be as biased as they wish
Im genuinely torn between what I do. The good lady wife has given consent to the 911 and we even have very similar ideas on the build spec. The deal would be much easier and simpler, throw the current Pork at our friendly long standing family dealer and just say make a deal happen, etc. But Aston...V12...etc, etc, etc.
So Team Pork...make your case...
(This isn't a slinging mud type thread, both are happy dance motors for me

)I see both these models driven by two yummy mummies on school run. Parked next to each other the SL has more road presence IMO. Both cabs.
Me? I'd walk past both and buy this and drive the wheels off. My fave British car.

Aston will look and sound gorgeous. Depreciate like a stone and be mileage sensitive and is a bit too flash for everyday use.
Porsche 911 turbo is faster, far more practical. Can we used as a daily in all weathers and will retain value even with big miles.
One is a high days car, the other is the definative everyday supercar.

If you like cars like the Alfa I think you’d like the 720s too. The GT nice too hadn’t thought of that one. Interior a challenge on GT they should have given it a better cabin than 570s.
In terms of power units the Aston two mondeo lumps fused isn’t it? The 992 turbo s is inaudible and I have been standing behind one on a full chat launch. Nice if you prefer quiet cars? Maybe 600LT worth a look too

I've gone 4C to 570S Coupe to 600LT Spider, trust me either one of these Macs are brilliant replacements for a 4C. Still raw in many ways but refined with lots more luggage space than the Alfa. Great daily, my 570 was someone's daily with 34k up when I bought it, very much doable for everyday use and quite economical too for the performance.
600LT is the much better option and I don't see values going too much further downhill with new car production being restricted.
Regarding the 911, way too quiet, a bit anemic as it's just another 911 and once over the honeymoon period I think it would be dull to own so I'd go SL all day long, cover the seats with some fur covers if you don't like them

first of all i have not driven either - i have never owned an Aston, i have driven a few and was distinctly underwhelmed (but i am talking about DB7, DB11, V8 Vantage generation). Also all that naff James Bond association, gawd please spare us.
anyway, putting that to one side, the DBS has to be one of the most stunning looking motorcars of the last ten years. i know the interior is a bit of a tarts handbag, but to see one's reflection in a shop window or when you open the garage door, i think it would make one happy. For sure it's an event. the car mags all say it drives well too, it's no V12 Ferrari, but it's still very fast and refined.
the Porsche is the ultimate daily driver, massive performance, usability, practical, reliable, cheap to own/run (compared to most super sports cars), but a special event it is not. it's the opposite, and that is what it is meant to be. it's not an emotional purchase, but a rational one.
on this occasion, and if choosing between a 992 Turbo and a used DBS, i'd have the Aston - and i never thought i'd utter those words.
