Porsche now offering 3 year extended warranty
Discussion
I booked my car in recently for the warranty extension, normally I extend it two years at a time for convenience. The warranty has paid for itself many times over in my seven years of Porsche ownership, so I'm very content with this.
My OPC has told me they can now extend the warranty up to three years at a time, which I think is fantastic.
It's made me wonder though, what would happen if the car was written off after six months? Would Porsche refund the other two years of 'unused' warranty?
If not I feel I might be opening myself up to risk of paying for something I may never have the chance to use. Not that I plan on having an accident, but these things happen.

It's an insurance product not the manufacturer's warranty. If you sell the car privately it goes with the car so has value. The same if you part exchange to an OPC as they will have to resell with a two year warranty.. If you part exchange to a non OPC the value is lost.
However, I have been told by my OPC that you can cancel the warranty/ policy and get a refund of the unexpired term subject presumably to an admin fee and claims history. Make of that what you will! I have no experience of this.
Also, no 111 point check if extending without a break.

Not 100% correct. However, I have been told by my OPC that you can cancel the warranty/ policy and get a refund of the unexpired term subject presumably to an admin fee and claims history. Make of that what you will! I have no experience of this.

If you sell to the trade (out of the Official Network) the remaining Warranty can be cashed in. Requiring a request via a centre using the receipt of sale and original Warranty documents.

Yes, I think this is what I was told I could do but not how. I suppose there must be some who don't realise they can do this but perhaps a good non OPC specialist would tell them.If you sell to the trade (out of the Official Network) the remaining Warranty can be cashed in. I am extending my warranty and have been quoted, for a 991, £1,020/ £1840 and £2,750 for 1/ 2/ 3 years renewal prior to expiry plus Porsche Assistance if required at £168/ £275/ £385. The 2 year warranty figure is the same as 2019.
I think 981/ 718 models may be less.
Prior to this I last paid £895 in 2008 for a 1 year warranty extension on a 986.

What is the cost of a 3 yr warranty?
I was quoted £2165, which includes the breakdown cover but not the 111 check. SennaCGTS said:
What’s the advice if you px into an OPC and your car has 18 months warranty remaining, is it just lost? Thanks
An OPC salesman told me they take it into account, as it will save them having to purchase the warranty themselves. The reality may be somewhat different, though...SennaCGTS said:

I sold my car to an OPC,the warranty still had 18 months left,
I could have cancelled it and received a refund but the OPC agreed to pay me the extra on top to save me the hassle which they will then have passed onto the next owner.
