Hi all,

first of all thanks to all the people who gave their thoughts on my old post about 996 vs older turbo. Someone pointed out that a RUF BTR convertible was up for sale at eporsh...err I kind of went along and bought it by accident. Well that's what I'm telling the missus anyway. It's all her fault for making me sell my Seven because it didn't go with her lipstick or have doors or a roof or a stereo or something.

Anyway, I've been phoning around the porsche club insurance and I'm not having much luck with finding an insurer whose heard of these things. Are there any other RUF owners out there can recommend someone who knows their onions?

Cheers!

GuyR and AdamT

Have a look in the VMAX section for their posts for their profiles and email addresses.

Enjoy.

Norwich union was the only insurer that would go anywhere near my Ruf turbo....then again I do have 11 points and a long history of claims...

nevertheless they r by far most competetive for highly modified cars in my opinion, good luck

Congratulations! That BTR is really an excellent machine.

My father uses insurance brokers StackHouse Poland, and they are pretty competitive.

Again congratulations,

all the best

Congratulations on the new baby!

I would be very interested in hearing how you get on with insuring the BTR.

I was very interested in it about a month ago, when Roly first advertised it, but was put off by the difficulty in getting insurance. Basically I couldn't get anyone to cover it due to a combination of the (high) value and because Ruf is not on the insurers list of manufacturers. Adrian Flux said they could try to find someone to cover it, but the premium would be very high.

Good luck, and enjoy the car!

Great to see someone on here bought it, it looked a great car. I spent a lot of time looking at the eBay advert, thinking seriously about getting it, but basically the red was not my colour of choice (all my Porsches have been black).

As for insurance, my car is insured as a modified Porsche, since it was not a Ruf VIN car to start with (unlike Adams two cars and your BTR).

Congrats on an awesome car though.

Roly - or more acurately, that car - had an invite to the TIPEC day at Walton Hall this Sunday (17 July), as their main theme is a display of Porsche cabriolets.
I'm quite sure that you'll be welcomed with open arms if you can make it.

Thanks for the insurance tips, and keep 'em coming if there are any more! It is proving a bit of a struggle to say the least, and I've not been able to post much 'cause I've been on the phone to brokers all day.

I think we'll get there in the end though!

As soon as I've got some experience with it I'll do some more posts and put some pitctures up.

I've got half a chance of making it to the meet, providing I can get my cover note in time and get rid of the inlaws who have just invited themselves over. Just what I needed for new car weekend.

Will do Patrick. I'm due to collect it shortly, so I'll get some shots up ASAP.

Turned out that Norwich Union were by far the most competitive. A life saver in fact, thanks for the advice folks, very much appreciated!
