Hi, my 997 seems to have developed a problem when pressing the clutch in order to start the car. Is this controlled by a switch of some kind? Thanks.

Yes. Clutch needs to fully depressed - switch to detect this can fail causing intermittent problems. Not a big job.

Can be bypassed in an emergency - just bridge the two connections. Its under the dash; above the heater duct for the drivers vent.

Part number of switch is: 997.613.109.50 its a little white / grey microswitch with a lever on it. Around £30 from OPC.

Ive just replaced mine, Its a common part to fail, not to bad a job to do but a little difficult to get to as its in the footwell up near the top of the clutch peddle. It pays to remove the two screws in the heater pipe so that can be pulled out of the way first, which then makes accessing the single screw that holds the switch in place far easier.

I just had mine bypassed as it is a common part to fail. Cheaper in the long term too! Just remember to depress the clutch before you start the engine!
