Been bamboozling with the configurator for days now! Some things are shocking value to upgrade and, whatever the cost, value does come into it for me in making any decision.

I want to focus most of the options on ADDITIONS of useful driving kit like adaptive cruise and HUD and then the DYNAMIC addditions like rear wheel steer and torque vectoring rather than CHANGES on any overpriced trim. So I want to omit:

Seat upgrades - stick with std 8 way (forward and back, seat angle/height, backrest angle - its enough). My Macan has 18 way overkill which is never really used - £1170 saved. I'll chalk the 'his and hers positions' laugh

I'd love the lighter coloured extended smoother leather but std leather is fine and saves a whopping £3k. You don't want to know how much a contrasting stitch option is (ok it's the cost of 12 tyres)...

Should I go for safe/dull black though as it seems a bit dated in beige?

Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) is £2300 - active roll bars - but the saloon car barely rolls and is flat as a pancake. Still ??? biggrin

Thanks for any advice - blunt or otherwise as its bamboozling!

PS, We'll do range anxiety in the next session laugh

I’ve kept it simple . Panoramic roof and 5 seats . Maybe when I firm up the spec go for the Bose . I’d like to see the Cross in the metal to see what colours suit . The two tone leather on the demo was nice mind .

They will all tell you that the Bose is essential come resale but thanks for the input - appreciated.

Seats are a personally thing...it’s all about comfort rather than how easy they are or how may adjustments there are. When we bought our Cayenne we went to the dealer and sat in cars with the two main options....went with the 18 ways as they were to us much more comfortable. Car has now done just under 70k miles including a few trips to Europe. Money well spent for as as unlike a lot of optional extras you use them every second you are using the car.

Although I think with a few other things Porsche have cut back in some areas in the interior and the 18 way seats in the current cars are not as good so not sure I’d tick that box now !

There is an element of head over heart - the tax deduction that will not be there forever and the fact that it is time to change the Macan before it gets milier plus strong used car bids outside of Porsche. But the Taycan is dynamically an absolute cracker! I loved driving it - so tight and made ICE cars and even PDK gearboxes look a bit stoneage in their delivery (no I'd never have thought it either - petrol's in my blood!). The ride quality is absolutely fantastic and it handles so well - really safe balanced grippy flat and tenacious. I'm resigned to getting stung by Ionity in Chippenham on London trips and having a coffee when I'd much rather be continuing home after work, but I value your perceptive inputsmile Also my Mum's electricity bill is in for a shock!

Thanks for the seats checks guys - will sit in a few as still have time to decide. V useful.

+2 on the seats, its not just the number of adjustments available that differentiates the spec; bolster firmness is immediately noticeable.

Not exactly the same but I change regularly (with a choice from the entire VAG group) and the thing I notice immediately is comfort on the first drive out - my last car had the highest/full spec seats but my latest car has mid-range partial leather and standard adjustment. In this car I feel like I am tipped forward from the base and can't get 'comfy. It's also one of the few options that impact others - your passengers will also appreciate it!

The 18ways on our old 64 plate Cayenne were exceptional seats however the latest aren't as much of an upgrade due to design changes. We chose 14 ways on all our latest Porsches including our current Taycan and they are amazingly comfy and supportive. The 14 ways allows you to adjust the seat cushion angle which drastically improves thigh support which makes longer journeys more bearable.

If it helps, my CT 4S order is on this link:

We tried to keep it relatively sane in terms of extras. I found the standard seats very comfortable in the demo that we drove

Is a tow bar a factory option? I couldn't have my Cayenne fitted with one, as it was one of the first batch of cars and the tow bar would have delayed delivery by 6+ months, so an £800 factory option cost £2300 to retrofit. Worth it for a rear mounted bike rack if you're that way inclined.

Do the seat base angles not adjust at front and rear on 8 way? I think this is an essential really...

Thanks for that - similar end cost. Green & red eek - you sir are an individual! biggrin

I added HUD, Alcantara steering wheel, PTV and RWS which is where our spec differs mostly. I really want the active anti roll bars too as on some cars they decouple when cruising giving an even better ride yet quash even more roll in the twisties (DBX was awesome here) - just gets too heady though. Wonder if the Cross will roll more than the saloon? I could ditch the glass roof and HUD to help...

I just cant pay £450 for that auto opening electric charging flap - no matter how cool it is!!

That 'Inlays painted in Black (high-gloss)' for the front and rear 'splitters' is an example of pi$$ poor value - its already painted this is just darker paint at £250. If it bugs me I'll get them wrapped and save a ton and get them protected as a bonus.

Porsche freebies I just learnt about (sic): As a Taycan customer, not only will you receive subscription-free access (usually £179 per annum) to the Porsche Charging Service for 3 years’, you can also enjoy discounted pricing (£0.30 p/kWh) to the IONITY ultra-rapid charging network for the first 3 years of ownership.

Initially we were going for Frozen Blue with the red but the colour just didn't look right to us. So Mamba Green it is.

I've seen a couple of photos of cars in the same combination and they look great IMO, although someone on here described it as a 'watermelon' which is what i've now nicknamed the car (much to the disgust of my wife).

I know I've said it before, Shmee150 on You Tube can be quite irritating but his real world living with a Taycan is very informative. Watch his latest from a couple of days ago to see the grief he had with the public charging! Not a good advert for potential purchasers.

LOVE IT!

I did watch the Schmee charging debacle. Makes you want to put a Honda Genny in the back and keep the tax relief!!! I wont joke that it isnt a grave concern for that odd Cardiff - London - Cardiff that I do for work...

I think I'm going to need a car for 24 hrs to test outside of work to ensure that I haven't made a big mistake here. If I cant charge and and cant get home it gets cancelled...

Slate grey interior is a nice option especially with the blue exterior. Much nicer than black and agree the beige is too 'hearing aid'.
