Hi,

I bought 2009 49K miles Boxster - PASM, PDK, PSE & Sports Chrono a couple of years ago. The approved used warranty is coming to an end and I have been told about getting an extension. It (warranty) doesn't cover wear and tear or suspension i.e. dampers, springs or bushes etc... I'm thinking of just putting the £700 towards some bushes or whatever. The car has started to creak both front and rear, when it goes over sleeping policemen...Is it judicious getting the warranty?

Thanks
Hayden

Think the max age of a car is 10 years to be eligible for the Porsche warranty (I could be wrong of course).

Available on cars uo to 15 years old or 200k miles. OP I think it depends on your individual attitude to risk. Personally I think £6-700 pa is worth it but you may not. No warranty covers wear and tear.

Apparently it goes to 15 years and 130K miles. My main worry is the PDK box.

To be honest, that was what I was thinking, 600-700 a year is nothing really in car repair but the wear and tear exclusion makes me wonder will they claim wear and tear on anything expensive...

15 years is good to know. Thanks - good to be wrong on this one!

Try and find out what they consider to be the lifespan of a big component maybe? And see what they say about 'betterment' - if they only chip in 40% towards a new gearbox as its done 100k then id stash the money instead (and do for both my cars - very healthy pot now...).

Have to say that almost NOTHING of significance has gone wrong on the Macan in 3 years (std chocolate wheel centre caps and exhaust tips) and the M235i in 4 (rear hood seal) and Rapides in 7 years (washer pump, backbox noise flap pump, boot catch, door wiring loom). Touch wood!
