Macan lead times?
Discussion
I’ll call around and try book a test drive but just wondered if anyone had any advice generally about buying a Porsche at the moment.
1st child on the way and mrs wants something higher up. I always liked the Macan. Probably will go for the GTS.
I’ve leased my last few cars and never “bought” new. But now in a position to buy a car new. Budget not too much of an issue but don’t want to spend money for nothing and don’t mind nearly new.
Was looking at a used 2015-16 model (standard diesel or s) at around 30-40k but I like the facelift and used facelift models are hardly any cheaper than new. Some seem more expensive than a well / similarly spec’d new car which seems mad but guessing supplies are low at the moment.
Don’t want to wait forever so trying to decide if it’s best buying a 2015 car and ordering new, then sell the 2015 car when the new one is ready…
Seems silly to buy nearly new that’s the same price as a brand new car configured on Porsche site.
Does anyone have an idea of how long I should expect to wait?
Is pointless trying to negotiate rrp?
Anything else to consider?
Also just as a gauge - a new 70k gts - would you imagine in 4 years time would depreciated about 35k?
Thanks everyone

I have been told that if I pay my deposit before end of June then delivery will be 2022 Q1.
The Gen 3 Macan will not be on the configurator until July, so actual spec & price is unknown yet. I suspect discounts will be hard to achieve.
It’s tempting to sell my 2019 Macan before new car is here & daily my 997 for a few months in that way it will have been considerably cheaper to run for two years & 30k miles than I expected.

Thanks for the reply. I may as well get something used and order the newer model gts when launched. Reading power will be similar to outgoing turbo / slightly more expensive than current gts.
My son has placed his deposit for the new Macan , spec and price to be confirmed later, and he’s not the first to place an order / slot either. If you really want to buy , now will be the time to get your deposit paid.
If you look at 2017 prices for a GTS they are about 53k, so not as bad depreciation as that, but prices are high at the moment.
If you want new you need to be placing a deposit now and ringing around to see who has the shortest.
I placed mine in may and am hoping for q4 this year. 2 other OPCs were already into next year for theirs

Actually found a new one today in a nice spec ready to take (cancelled order)
It was 77k OTR (no chance of a discount) but with the facelift coming so soon , the current bubble, and the hike in BHP I am thinking to wait an order a new one...
What do you think?
Are £3k depost build slots saleable / transferable if I changed my mind when specs / price / time released?
On Macan forums it hints the GTS could be 12-18months later for the refresh - is that true?

Revised GTS should be available to order from Late July. Many dealers already have deposits on cars so you might have a wait to get one. Have a look a macanforum. Co. U.K. Autocar also ran an article on last couple of weeks It was 77k OTR (no chance of a discount) but with the facelift coming so soon , the current bubble, and the hike in BHP I am thinking to wait an order a new one...

I’ve just picked up my new gts, ordered feb was originally told august 22, but then they got an extra allocation.the dealer I bought from already has pre orders when the new gts comes out.
I just sold my 3 year old gts back to Porsche (different dealer) for 44k, that was a 66k car new but I had done 36k miles in it, it’s currently for sale for 52.5k

Any thoughts on buying the GTS now or waiting for the update with 60hp more later in the year?
you won't have a choice, last of the gen 2 are already in build. Any deposits placed now will be for the gen 3, and there are plenty of people ahead of you in the queue.finmac said:
I am waiting, have an order in for a new GTS, delivery January 22. New model is defo the one to have,
Yes this is my thinking. Worth it for extra hp and worst time to buy the gen 2 car. Think I’ll put in a deposit next week. Is the lead time different depending on where you place the order?
