Hi
Nice car btw and a good spec but I'm interested in your reasons for the move. I was under the impression that the 993TT 'was the last true porsche sports car'
I was looking the other day and found some 993TT costing more than early 996TT.
I think the nostalgia of the 993TT (last air cooled)and coupled with the fact that there arn't many around compared to 996TT will strengthen their re-sale value making it in some ways a better buy.
How does it compare? daily drive, handling, performance etc etc
I'm looking for a 964 turbo then hopefully upgrading to a 993TT in a few years time.
JUST BEEN REFLECTING OVER THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS BEFORE POSTING......
Are my comments founded or have i been
listening to a load of grumpy old men?
sorry for rambling having a stressfull day

When I was looking to change my Boxster S I drove a couple of 996 turbos and 993 turbos. I found the 993 kept me in touch with what I wanted in a car. It was basically more fun and I love the interior. The 996 was the same as my Boxster inside which I found a bit "Japanese" but that's just my opinion.
Thanks for the congrats everyone. In reply to the questions:
1) Nel: well spotted, I'm gonna have to change my handle
2) wini, der: I've only had the 996tt a couple of days so its difficult for me to give informed opinions. Initial impressions are that the 996tt is a lot easier to drive, more forgiving and flattering ie. it makes me a better driver than I actually am. The ride is smoother and more refined and so is the power delivery. Give me a little more time to form some more opinions but, my initial thoughts are that the 996tt offers a smoother ride and gives you more confidence at the expensive of loosing touch with the road a little. The feedback you get from the 993tt is better and if you are a 'better' driver then you will appreciate that more. I will be insterested to see what the 996tt is like on track with the PSM switched off...
3) ace: The 993 flew out of the door, I had loads of enquiries for it but the first guy that called asked me to keep it for him. I'm not surprised as it was a beauty. Happy to talk £££ with you when I see you next but would be unfair to the buyer to post here.
4) gr4eme: I would agree that the 993tt is the best ...that is coming from a purist / enthusiast's point of view. The car, apart from being my toy, is what we will use for day-trips and with the baby in the back we needed something more refined, smooth, comfortable with more safety features and more gadgets. 996tt prices have really come down recently and have now leveled off. There are always going to be buyers out there that will pay more for a 993tt but they are the true enthuasts and there are fewer of them around than the people that will simply say the 996tt is newer and hence it is better. For this reason, I feel that 996tt will not loose much more value and will settle slightly above the 993tt apart from the odd mint 993tt example.

Thanks for the feedback Barry. I guess that your move was for practical reasons as opposed to pure driving pleasure. In reality its great you can have a 911 turbo with all that power, safety etc etc which can be used as a practical day to day car. I'm turning a slight green in colour with envy

Absolutely. I considered a Ferrari 456, a Maserati 4200, a DB7 and nothing with 4 seats touches the 996tt as an all round package. I'm off to Sandown shortly to place a few bets and try to recoup some of the cost...
