A fantastic day for a superbly run event at Bicester Heritage yesterday, helped by some wonderful October weather. There was some stunning air and water cooled Pork in attendance. Here are a few that caught my eye.
Enjoy.

And do please add your own images smile

Kermit :

CSR :

E88/964 goodness :

964/Ruf combo :

Rubystone popping in the October sunshine :

And Lambo's metallic take on the same theme for any shrinking violets out there !! :

Stunning Turquoise Green 993 :

Classic air cooled chic :

Aircooled interloper brethren ... :

Stanced 964/Fuchs. Miami or Riviera ? :

And an older relative. Anyone for real T ? :

Can't beat a bit of Guards, especially when combined with wide and immaculate Fuchs :

993. Pure and simple (and all the better for it) :

Another proper T :

They may be divisive, but the Singer attracted a constant stream of individuals wanting to take a closer look. The ever-cool Rob Dickinson could be seen relaxing whilst supping a beer inside.

And I've saved the best to last :

Why the best ? Because it's my old Midnight Blue 964 RS, I purchased it back in 2001/2 and it was to be the first of many Porsches I owned, and bit like your first love, it has a special place in my heart and brings back some truly fantastic memories.

Lovely photos, and a great illustration of the depths of the 911. There really is something for pretty much everyone there, isn't there?

To be honest, I'm not really a car show attendee these days (haven't been for the last 10 years) but a good mate arranged a ticket for me, and as the forecast was good, I thought why not. It was a wonderfully relaxed event, and very well organised. Highly recommended.

Midnight is as you said, very understated, too much so for many (which I get, as a Ferrari yellow, Rubystone red or Maritime blue RS is stunning to behold) but sometimes it's nice to fly "under the radar" smile

I was there yesterday…it was a good day. Less cars that turn up on the day parked in amongst the buildings than the earlier ones…which I think is a bit of a shame…there’s a bit more of a curated feel about it. I was parked in the space next to the Orange T and had clearly left when you were talking photo’s….there were a lot of people looking at the great cars out in the car parks.

Were you there in the RS ? Would loved to have seen it smile
The good mate that bought got me the ticket for the event, said the layout was different to the previous one he’d been to, but he said yesterday’s event felt less about the cars, and more about it being a social event, which after what we’ve been through these past 20 months, seemed rather fitting.

When I arrived and started walking into epicentre of the event, my first thought was this couldn’t have happened this time last year.
On such a glorious day, it was pleasant reminder as what life should be like for all smile

We left at 3.00, by which time the car park was all but empty, but a lot of the cars were still on display and more accessible.
We found an excellent pub 20 minutes away from Bicester and stayed there until 8 0’ clock. All in all an excellent day biggrin

Some lovely metal but, from the sounds of it, its just another static show? I don't get much out of that format anymore - feel like I've already seen all those cars 100 times, so much nicer to see them in action. Suppose the social bit is the appeal smile

Funny, I also got my into Porsche with my first 911 in 2001. Ended up with a 964 C2 (manual, logically, LHD). Were you on the PGCB 964 "Titanic" discussion list of the time?

I was there in the RS, shame would have been nice to say hello. We could have gone for s spin ! I got there at 9 as we’re about a 45 min drive from Bicester, It’s relatively quiet until 10 so it’s a good time to look around the main part…we then go and look around the car parks. I’d agree on your friends observation about the social side of things…it was a lot less crowded than the last one I went to so had a nicer feel to it.

See my comments above, because like you, I found that walking around looking at cars became a great cure for insomnia ...I was at a point whereby I'd much rather spend a Sunday out driving the car.

A break of ten years from shows had put a different perspective on things. Though in all honesty I went there yesterday with low expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised to find so many people there, and such an eclectic showing of Pork. As I said previously, it was more of a relaxing social event with the cars as a welcome distraction smile

I don't think I could even switch a PC on in 2001, let alone access the interweb and find a chat room biggrin
Then in 2002/3 I decided that these computer things and the interweb might just have legs, so I elected to go to evening classes "Computing for dimwits and luddites" !!

Indeed !! I'll drop you a PM and we can make arrangements for another time.
We'd planned to get there for 10, with view to leaving for midday to have lunch in a pub we frequent some ten minutes away from Bicester. But I woke to a dull, damp, dank day in N.London, and struggled to get out of bed ...
I eventually arrived at 11.30 and my good friend rolled up at 12.20 having had to got get his Mk1 GT3 out of storage on the way to Bicester. The car park was at it's peak by then I suspect ?

Great pictures smile

Apparently the Singer DLS was engineless. I saw it being pushed out of the showroom shortly before we left at 3.00. I commented on the car to someone who has a workshop opposite the Singer showroom, he said that DLS is static display model currently. It still looked stunning !!

Thanks. I really enjoy the Sunday scrambles because it’s full of interesting bits and pieces and it doesn’t attract the super car trinket crowd.

I’d not been up close to a Singer and don’t exactly understand why you spend £700k on one but the finish of the product is undeniably lovely.

I think it’s a cool venue with a nice atmosphere and moseying about the various workshops seeing all manner of old metal being carefully restored is great. I enjoy wandering the car park as much as the place itself.

I went with my son (13) who is usually glued to his xbox. He said he really enjoyed it. We’ve been to several incl Luftgekuhlt. I like the array of different vehicles there.

I thought there was a distinct lack of water cooled cars - I was in my 996 and only saw about 4 others.

This ^ and perfectly put too !!
A large part of my former boredom at these shows stemmed from looking at endless rows of garage queens, and little more. The car park admirably fulfilled the needs of those wishing to view an eclectic range of cars (and there was plenty of them) and whilst there were some "showpieces" present, the majority were nicely "usable" cars.
Once in amongst the workshops and showrooms, the event took on an altogether different (and for me, even more more appealing) perspective.

Whoever owns/runs manages Bicester Heritage has done a wonderful job of attracting such a fantastic mix of companies, and in a relatively short timespan. It felt more like a community than a business park/industrial estate.

I'd not appreciated Singer have a UK base. I presume it's permanent and not just for the event/s ? So it made a pleasant surprise to find they had a presence there and Rob Dickinson was present too.

Great to see Henry Catchpole there walking about with his wife and baby too smile

Isn't it just?!

The first 964 RS I saw was (cannot remember) either black or midnight. I was in the TVR Tuscan paddock at Silverstone, early 90's (this when the car had just come out) and one parked up adjacent. The stance of the car and the engine note was so different to a standard 964, and yet not many other people seemed to notice it. Epic machines.
