Back from the best Porsche/Driving holiday!
Discussion
Hello All,
I've just got back from my 4000 mile 8 day hoon around europe. What a trip! I'd highly recommend that sort of thing to anyone that has not done a trip like it. I just woke up each morning and decided where I was going. I had a bit of a look around Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Luxemberg, Austria and Switzerland.
A brief list of the best bits:
- a few laps of the Ring (the number of which was limited by the wear on my tyres!)
-Vmax -164mph on the autobahn
-"cruising" at 140mph with the roof down (your ears feel like they are going to burst!)
-factory tour at Porsche
-Test drive in the 997 2s
-factory tour at Ruf (thanks Adam!)
-the Stelvio Pass in Italy. The most crazy road (read- dozens of steep hairpins) I've ever driven with absolutely stunning views of the Dolomites.
-purchase of a Tequipment Sports exhaust (to still be fitted)
-5 days of 30 degree sunshine for top down cruising.
-oh and seeing a Cayman S in the flesh. Pictures available too.
If anyone wants a list of good roads then I can email them.
Cheers,
Aki
PS- thanks to all those who gave me advice on what to do before I left.

Let me know next time you go, i may well come along. I have been planning something similar for 9 days in September (weekend to weekend).
Great highlights by the way!
Hey, give me a bit of notice and come over. I'm in Duesseledorf. I'll have my car here until end of September. I'm only about 80 mins from the Eiffel and that has some lovely roads. Autobahn is 3 mins away
Also plan a factory visit in September, been in contact with them via email.

Crikey you must have been in almost the same places as me at the same time. I only managed 2025 miles in 9 days, 4k in that amount of time must have meant a lot of time on the road. You did'nt stay in Garda did you there was an "s" in our carpark. Would have liked to do Stelvio or Grossglockner but ran out of time. Was the cayman outside the museum?
