Hi Everyone
New to PH and this forum so please go easy on me.

My question is this:
If as a totally new customer to Porsche, I placed an order for one of the following 3 models with my local OPC today January 2022, how long on average would be my wait time to collect the car?

Macan S
Cayman
Cayman GTS

Also:
Would I need to lodge a deposit at time of ordering?
Do OPC have any kind of preferential system for existing customers?
Is it worth trying more than one OPC, will delivery times vary according to which dealer I go to?

Sorry if this has all been asked a million times before and thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Not sure on current wait times but I do know the following.

£3k deposit at order point
Definitely ring round a few dealers as they have their own allocations
I don’t believe any of those would be cars you’d need to have built up a relationship to get, it’s more the gt3/gt4 etc you have that issue with

Cayman GTS will have a long lead time, the other two would be much better I think though Macan S might be quite difficult too. Each OPC is different, at the moment you would be well served to ring around especially for the standard Cayman as I reckon that will be the one where there might be more variation in lead time. Even in good times and if everything goes okay I would say it is normally a roughly three month lead time for a car, that can depend on spec of the car as some options can delay production due to supply chain issues.

Porsche reading should be able to get you a Macan S easy enough. Sold a Macan gts roughly October time of last year, new Macan S landed on the drive Friday.

Cayman GTS may be tricky, friend was after either a boxster or cayman GTS and my local OPC said 2023 at best as they already have a list of people waiting. He also asked for a spyder or GT4 as was told a flat no.

Macan GTS is also in demand at the moment.

Thread hijack… could you post details of your spec and initial thoughts on the S and why you went for S and not GTS?

Recent chat at my OPC suggested few models ordered in 2022 would be delivered this year. Certainly the wait for Macan GTS and all 911 models was well into 2023 already.

They do have this though….

Proves the point about different dealers having different lead times. My Dad ordered a Macan S last July, only had his build slot confirmed last week, April build.

The only reason the last Gts went was due to being offered far more than we paid for it, it was never bought to sell so quickly, but a chap wanted it for his wife as a birthday present so it had to go there and then.

We have had x1 S diesel Macan, x3 gts Macans and now the new S Macan. I’ve not driven S yet properly to be able to compare it to the GTS. The new S apparently has the same engine as the old GTS but time will tell. We really loved all of the GTS macans. Combined we have done about 50k in the GTS Macans and they have been a pleasure to own. The S diesel felt slow and heavy compared to the GTS cars.

The reason we didn’t order another new GTS was due to lead times and lack of build slots available, it also didn’t come from our normal OPC as they sadly had a year wait at best due to demand.

We will probably wait for the next new Macan to come out then go for another GTS, great car and great value for money in my eyes.

If a GTS build slot was available over a S I would of taken it.

An OPC in Kent( does that give it away?) told us 15 months for for a Macan S, offered an used 'old engine' Leaky S, we said no thank you.

We don't think they liked the car we arrived in silly

Hi,

I placed an order for a new Macan S in January 2022 with my local Porsche dealer. 3K deposit paid and have been advised that delivery is expected between October to December this year. Called a few dealers and it was roughly 10 month wait across the board. However, I’ve been told the dealers get allocations all the time so if you’re a serious buyer you can press them for an earlier slot. The dealers can provide with you information like your position number against number of orders currently in place for a particular model.

I can’t wait for mine, it’ll be worth the wait! Took the demonstrator for an extended test drive and the new macan s is an absolute dream to drive!

Hope that helps!

I can see some people not going ahead. Cost of living is really going to bite sooner rather than later. Super unleaded will be £2 soon after this Russia crisis

I ordered a Macan GTS (and paid deposit) in November 2021 from Porsche Silverstone. Still not had any build date or spec requirement as yet.....I am told by others it will probably arrive December 2022, or maybe into 2023. Not particularly an issue as have a lease car until March 2023 anyway......TBH I am tempted to sell it straight away as people will pay 10k above MSRP for the GTS and so will take the profit!!

Take the profit dude , GTS Macan is a lovely car but take the 10 grand profit and enjoy your lease . The GTS are all scheduled to arrive around end 2nd to 3rd quarter 2023 and by then the EV brigade will be chomping at the heels ( Govt will try and push this green agenda) and don’t forget the elections are coming around 2023 2024 — who knows what the next Government will do
In essence 10 000 is a good profit — for anyone - even millionaires , otherwise how else would they be millionaires …billionaires are different

Good luck with that £10k profit at the end of this year / into 2023! Suspect you may need it...

Likewise with another poster, deposit paid for a Gts , no idea of a build date from the dealer , but he expects 3rd quarter 2023, still plenty of time to cancel if the country implodes?
