There is a book published which is meant to be the definative RS book which costs about £220...can anybody tell me what its called and who it is published by.

Could these be the "Carrera RS" book,,published by T.A.G books? It came out about 5 years ago.

That would be the book. Not that long ago they were still available from Porsche Club GB, and they were £150-ish.
A beautiful homage to the car, if you're into such things.
It even has (in ink, unfortunately, not paint) examples of every colour in which the car could be ordered.

if you can,get the first edition second hand,the cheaper one is the second edition reprint.
Some suppliers may well still have the first ed around.
No differance except rarity value one day.

ah, thanks for that Burzel...I thought I had seen this book for sale at over £200, then on the publishers website saw they were "only" £112.....that is maybe why!

Is this the Ludwigsen book? I bid for one on ebay some weeks ago but it was in German.

John Starkey also wrote a good one - "RS to RSR" or similar is the title

Ludwigsen Excellence etc .........the best rs book for real hard fact is by Konradsheim and the one Burzel refers to ..................head and shoulders above anything else .

The T.A.G. book is devoted to the 2.7RS and is more of a "coffee table" book (although it comes in a slipcase). Of the three it has the nicest pictures and is the most handsome object. It is something of a collector's item. It gives the reader a distinct sense of what it was like 32 years ago to contemplate one of these then-new cars, while including plenty of technical detail.

The Ludvigsen book came out in a substantially revised and expanded edition eighteen months ago (three volumes in slipcase). It covers all Porsche cars (cannot recall if the tractors are in it), each in quite a bit of detail. The three volumes comprise at least 1500 pages, and there are many hundreds of illustrations and photos. It has more of a technical feel to it than the other two. If you wanted, for example, to learn about the Mezger block, it is probably the best English language source for information.

The Starkey book also came out in a much bigger revised version a year or so ago. It is only about race cars - its subtitle is something like "The racing 911s and 930s". It has lots of photos but none are all that good; the book is limited by its fairly small page size. The book has page after page of tables with old race results. If you want to know about what the subtitle implies, it surely is the source. Otherwise it is rather narrow.

The Starkey Book unfortunately from the first edition contained some errors as to ownership and the like , these have been compounded throughout the following editions ..............i guess in such a vast data base a few errors may occur ,but some of it appears to be sheer guess work and hardly Sherlock Holmes !
Not a challenge but have yet to find errors in Konradsheim..............he does still work on the cars in Austria for anyone who wants a superb RS rebuild .

"DAS Buch" by Konradsheim and Gruber can still be bought in its only edition @1992.

The Porsche Post Article was incorrect.

George sent me 2 signed copies recently. The German version is sold out hence the high ebay prices.

Limited to 3000 copies. 1500 in English.

I have 921 and 922 but I am sure there are not 578 copies left. Be quick and do phone. The web ordering is useless.
