Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I hear on very good authority that unfortunately that all Porsche production will stop indefinitely imminently. Some lines have stopped already being built I believe. Apparently it's because all Porsche wiring looms are made in and imported from the Ukraine. Another issue caused by this senseless, awful conflict.

Most German car manufacturers in particular source wiring looms etc from Ukraine so the impact on Porsche and others with major supply issues now is clear.

Not good.

I can see it halted for at least 6 months until they can gear up production of looms at another factory/country.....and doubt that is turned around in less than 6 months.

this was from 3 days ago.

Maybe the new news since that article is that they have to just shut it all down.

I've read that it is the Macan and Panamera and due to world issues. Wouldn't be suspired if that includes the Taycan. https://flatsixes.com/porsche-news/porsche-halts-p...

Yep, my heart goes out to all those waiting for their new toys, still they’ve got the scant consolation of not having their houses bombed, family members slaughtered, and their country undergoing a scorched earth policy instigated by an individual one sandwich short of picnic.
FFS, what’s wrong with you people ? 1500 miles from our shores a country is being destroyed and the lives of those living in it peacefully up until 10 days are now being torn apart. Bad news is sending your wife and children to another country to ensure they survive, whilst you stay to defend your country, it’s NOT worrying that your shiny new toy will be delivered 6 months late. Try getting a grip and a sense of perspective.

Great post which I happen to concur with 100%. God help us if Putin decided we were next on his hit list !. Can't see our pampered woke society putting up much of a fight unlike the tougher Ukrainians.

100% with you but just to mention that this thread isn't crying over the Porsche Factory Closure, just shooting the breeze on the news. I am sure all the expectant new owners are not concerned one iota over a delay of their cars and only concerned with current affairs in Ukraine.

No really, I haven’t seen anyone moaning, annoyed nor angry about it. People are just discussing it but not irritated by it.

Well said, Slippy. The Felicity Ace going down is one thing, the devastation of Ukraine quite another.

I think the Mini plant in Oxford is also affected,

They also get parts from Ukraine.

Have a read of KanBan and Just-In-Time manufacturing, and you may appreciate why automotive sector gets hit in the way it does.

The apparent lack of second sources is not good supply chain management. Resilience costs some margin but has largely been abandoned on the altar of lowest product cost.

Not ideal news but certainly not something I'd have the balls to complain about given the cause of it.

I never thought for one minute my Taycan was going to be on time, even before this happened.

Absolutely, but you wouldn't believe some of the stuff that apparently goes on ad-infinitum. Not Porsche but some other manufacturers aren't even ISIR'ing, PPAP'ing etc, and then wonder why things don't work. It's all a bit of a perfect storm at the moment.

Still, as has been said, it's nothing compared to what the population of Ukraine are facing.
