991 or 997.2 - first porsche
Discussion
My budget is ideally around £40-45k but could up it to £50+
So far my search has been around 997.2 S. I will be using the car regularly but only for local drives, not many miles. I probably plan to only keep it 2-3 years (plan to move abroad), so happy to pay for the experience + 'investment' relative to other cars
I learning towards 997.2 as demand will always be there - Im finding it difficult to source one right now, so could be an easy sell in a few years with minimal loss taken
Any thoughts appreciated

Had a 997.1 and now got a 991.1. In absolutely every respect I’d say the 991 is better.
I’d sold the 997 as I found it a bit dull to drive in everyday use, whereas thoroughly enjoying the sharper handling and more urgent feel of the 991. Plus a lot better appointed inside and really love the design of the outside too.
Personal taste of course, but for me anyway, worth the little extra.

Stretch to a 991 but do get one with an official OPC warranty. They glitch more than the 997. Never serious but always expensive!
Actually I can concur with this having just had one of the many coolant valves go. Apparently very common, and as Desert Dragon said, not too serious, but was a few hundred quid to fix. Still prefer it.dng992 said:

If it to be a "weekend" car then definitely the 997.2. So far my search has been around 997.2 S. I will be using the car regularly but only for local drives, not many miles.
