I need to spec my 997 c2s in a few weeks... any thoughts on following?:
arctic, black leather, sports seats (basic not expesnive electric), s/roof, sportdesign wheels, navi module, phone module (sim in dash not the clunky handset), bose, crests, park assist, cruise, 6-cd changer.

nice spec and similar to one I costed out except I'm bored to death with silver

not bothered about cruise so would swap with MFSW esp. as you are getting sat nav and phone

enjoy!

forgot some bits of spec... also: rear wiper (useful on current 996), windscreen top tint, auto mirrors and wipers, sport chrono pack, heated seats.

Unsure about leather package switch panel (£1.1k) or instrument surround leather (£135) and also unsure about aluminium gearlever (essential on my current 996 but not so sure with new 997 interior) at £400.

Good spec and pretty similar to mine. Shared Adam B's view about the ubiquitous silver so went with seal grey. Keep seeing those everywhere now though. Didn't bother with Bose as standard speaker system is much better than the standard 996 set up. You're right about the gear lever. There's a lot of aluminium in there already.

Do they actually use real aluminium now instead of plastic painted silver? That's one reason I didn't like my Boxster S, ordered the 'aluminium pack' or whatever it was called and it was just painted plastic - complete rip-off. Why the hell they couldn't use real aluminium I just don't know, what I paid definitely would have covered it including a large profit margin for Porsche.

Maybe I should have used quotation marks around aluminium, because you're right, it is still just painted plastic around the PCM and dials. Had the same experience when speccing my first Porsche, a 2000 Boxster with the 'aluminium' pack. Never again.

The most important bits I spec'd were (in order)

Sports Exhaust
Sport Chrono
Bose
S/Roof

In my opinion the Sport Chrono pack should be standard on the S.

Obviously it's personal choice, but I'm really pleased with Arctic/Ocean colour combination. Black's better, but it's so much hassle. Guards red is the choice of the brave man. It looks drop dead gorgeous, but I wouldn't want to have to sell it quickly.

If the sunroof rattles like my 996 then don't bother with that option.
OPC's seem unable to fix it, so it stays shut !

You must be unlucky - my 996 sunroof is perfect and a joy to have and use. I'll definitely be getting that option.

Must be, it rattled on my last 2 996's as well.
Never did on my Boxster though

Go for Speed Yellow - Looks fantastic on a 997 - Must be all those magazine covers I've been looking at lately with the 'flying banana' press car on them
