Macan Gen 3 ... Dashcam Preparation & Brochure
Discussion
I see dashcam preparation is a standard feature ot the new Macan, but what exactly is this?
Perhaps it's USB socket or similar up near the mirror to save on having to run a power cable along the headlining and down the A-pillar. Can't find anything official that explains it.
Also do Porsche still do brochures? Looking for one for the new Macan in PDF or print.

The Porsche dashcam for Taycan looks awful - hope the Macan version is a much better integrated design.Perhaps it's USB socket or similar up near the mirror to save on having to run a power cable along the headlining and down the A-pillar. Can't find anything official that explains it.

Download the official dashcam App from Appstore/Google Play, it has an online manual that you can access without the hardware for reference.
The interface between cam and smartphone is pretty seamless once you connect to the built-in Wifi; settings can all be adjusted from the phone without having to move the cam or access the SD card. It has a distinctive design - not had many complaints on its appearance or function.

Amazing isn't it, you ask a simple question about what 'Dashcam Preparation' is, and you get two answers referring to the dashcams themselves.
I'm in the same boat as you. Is it a USB socket on the rear view mirror module or what...?
No, it's a preparation wiring harness for use with the Porsche TEQ dashcam, not a USB socket. Basically a fly-lead tucked away above the headliner.I'm in the same boat as you. Is it a USB socket on the rear view mirror module or what...?
Obviously there will be power at some of those pins so you might be able to tap into it for a USB dash cam.
