Hi

Am loving the GT2 and after 5 trackdays I am now changing tyres as have finally seen the end of my michelins.

I have spoken to a chap in the tyre trade who is a mate of a mate! and will apparantly do a good deal, I have given him the sizes off the ones on the GT2 now and he says that they don't make them in the pirellis???

Please help as I am telling him that loads of you guys rave about them but he's insisting that you must have a differentwidth fitted???

the sizes I have given him are

Front wheels of size 8.5J x 18 with tyres of size 235/40 R 18 are being used. 12J x 18 wheels with 315/30 R 18 tyres are being mounted on the rear axle.

Thanks very much in advance

kwik fit do pirelli's ....

elite garages in horsham are your main men for pirelli's. they have the more specialist sorts as well....

are you checking your oil too?

cheeky sod, yeah I need some more oil so can you email me some!!!!!

Being serious it has all been changed and refilled completely with mobil 1 after yesterdays activities at goodwood again.

Re the tyres I need to know if Guy or other people have fitted the 295 18's as per the TT as I don't want to spend almost a grand for the wrong ones.

I know the garage at Horsham where they sell them as well but I just want to hear from someone who has fitted them that if they are narrower this is ok and still makes an improvement, I have to say having played around with the roll bars etc it now seems to have massively reduced the understeer and at Goodwood yesterday was incredible, I actually had to come in once as was starting to scare myself with the cornering sppeds being obtained ie 127 mph plus, I did a lap of 1 min 33.70 according to some guys who were timing their mates in the Skylines which I didnt think they were supposed to do but was nice to know that I was 2 secs a lap quicker than them.

i'm no tyre guru, but i wouldn't fit the wrong size tyre just for the sake of a few £'s.... do things properly.

btw... have you crashed yet? i have... gives you quite a buzz, although I woudn't recommend it.

Pirelli PZero Rosso Asymmetrico are available in 235/40 and 315/30.

MPSC are also.

Yokohama A048 are as well.

PS are N0 rated, PS2 are N2 rated and so should be available.

Calm down everyone (in Michael Winner voice).

You are all looking at the wrong tires. You do not want the Pirelli Corsa Symetrico or directionale. You want the Pirelli Corsa Track Tire.

This is available in 235/40 and 315/30/18 and is fitted as such to both mine and Henry's GT2s and I have a stack of the rears in my garage at home. They were supplied by Elite in Horsham and Tirerack in the USA and are fantastic.

Guy

PS Unless they have been discontinued for some reason subsequent to our purchase of course.....

hi guy

thanks for that, is this the tyre that they were talking about in the magazines like autocar and gt porsche?

I could have sworn that they were system corsa's but I bow to your greater knowledge and experience

What are the track ones you mention like on the road as I do not want to make the car too hairy in the wet?

They were talking about the system Corsa, not the track Corsa.

However if your primary use is track then I would recommend the Trackday Corsa, although I could not comment about the system as I have not used it. Both Henry and I only use these on our cars and they do lots of road mileage (it's Henry's daily driver).

They are fine in the rain although obviously offer less grip than normal road tyres and similarly if it's really cold (and are downright rubbish in snow!)

I do not know of anyone who has used the System so cannot add any comments on them.
