Macan S oil leak
Discussion
Hi,
Just wanted to advice on a Macan s I’ve seen at an local OPC.
The MOT advisory mentioned an oil leak. Spoken to the delta and said it has been fixed. Seems like it was a common problem.
Has anyone had this problem recur after it’s been fixed by the dealers?
Don’t wanna buy a car that is going
To have recurring problems.
Thanks for the help.

The Macan has 2 issues of note, mine had a slight leak from the pdk box which was replaced under warranty.
They have also been known to leak at the front of the engine on the cam cover.
Have a nosey here....

I had a 65 plate S.
In the 5 years we owned it had…
New transfer box at around 25k miles.
New front drive shafts at around 30k miles.
Discs and pads all round around 40k miles.
Broken rear spring and £5000 engine oil leak at 50k miles.
Luckily everything other than consumables were covered by warranty.
These cars also eat tyres for fun.
Do your homework before buying. I wouldn’t run one without a warranty but obviously up to you.

Great car, we enjoyed it and would have swapped it for another.
Unfortunately at the time it was a two year wait for another Macan, at the time just after the first lockdown they had nothing to sell whatsoever without a wait.
After 20 years of Porsche ownership we jumped ship and bought a Range Rover, ironically this had an oil leak after 6000 miles, fixed under warranty but unlike Porsche no like for like loan car provided.
Your’re safe I think with the manufacturers warranty, for us it’s always been no quibble and they’ve repaired anything and everything without question.
Parts I believe are becoming a problem for all manufacturers.
If you do buy it. I’d ask what they’d do in the event of parts being unavailable.

Cheers for that.
But nothing about whether it has been a recurring problem…
The cam cover oil leak was due to a factory assembly issue, basically overtorqued bolts snapping the heads off when heating and cooling. Mine was done under warranty at about 18k miles, was still ok at 36k miles But nothing about whether it has been a recurring problem…
