A few Words of Wisdom Needed - 911 TT purchase
Discussion
All,
I am about to take the plunge on a 2k mile 53 plate X50 highly specced 911 TT. It s from a OPC and it is priced at £75k... I have managed to get £2k off... I still know that the price is high... I just want to know if it is un-reasonbly high given the following
1. The current 911 TT climate
2. It is a Porsche OPC
3. The car has very low mileage
4. It has the X50 upgrade
5. It has an excellent Spec
What worries me is that the car, although mint as one would expect... there are plenty of TT's out there around the £50k... now I know they might be early cars etc....
Basically... Am I gonna take a £20k hit with this car over the next year (crystal ball time) assuming I do not do more than 10k miles...
I would appreciate any of your comments...Thanks

I think there will be enough 997tt's for there to be a knock on effect on 996 prices, and there will be a lot of choice for someone wanting to buy a second hand 996tt.
I'm not saying you WILL lose £20k, i'm saying if you still want the car knowing you COULD lose £20k, then you are going in with your eyes open and you'll worry less about it.

An assumingly very safe Artic Silver. With Graphite Grey interior... some might say it is a bit John Major with all that grey/Sliver going on... but I think it is a good combo...
In the past I had had Ocean Blue and the other Grey...
and the more questionable Seal Grey/Boxster Red but neither of them on a 911tt

RoShambo - Indeed... it was just that I was thinking people who want a turbo can only wait/pay premium for a 997tt or anti-up for a used 996tt... if the market was going to be flooded with 997tt's then it would be a different matter. All Crystal Ball stuff really, just want to make sure I am not making a mistake - there are loads of people out there who may have trod this route once or twice in the past... and with the benefit of hindsight might have a few words...
I like the car - I love the performance - I just wanted to check that I was not being foolish opting for a £70k+ car when there are others out there for considerably less

I think its fair to assume a value of 55k in 2 years time. I am sticking to a budget of 65k in my search and reckon on 50k value in 2 years time. Think the 996tt prices are being hit by the 997S rather than the imminent £100k 997tt. Yes its slower but not by that much and you could spec a brand new one for the same price a 2 yr old 996.
996tt prices will take another hit when 997tt comes out mid/late next year as the supply of 996tt goes up as turbo drivers switch

Unless you are re-tuning personally I don't see a big difference between 420 bhp and 450 bhp of the x50 pack. So long as it is a glove box model (late 2001 onwards) you can get lhd for £45K and rhd for £60K - easy choice to get the earlier car. Depreciation is huge and in my opinion lessons the enjoyment when you feel your wallet lighten each mile you drive...
I actually have an order in for a 997TT which is due for delivery in Autumn next year.
I am having second thoughts at the moment as I am struggling to justify a price to change of £40k (I have a 996 TT which will be worth about £60k next year)
Will the 997TT be £40k better than a 996TT....I am not so sure.
I can afford it, but struggling to justify it.

Agree, once you have a nice 996tt is a new 997tt really going to be that much better for the extra cash? sure is going to be newer but I have a low milage 996tt and in real world driving It would struggle to shake off a well(or badly) driven hot hatch.
It gets harder for me to justify much above what i paid for my tt £72k when it is really such a good car and there are so many other fun cars around which i want to try.
