test drive on gt3 mk2 very impressed!

I test drove a silver gt3 mk2 04 at hatfield porsche today,I was very impressed with the way the suspension felt compaired to my 993tt stock suspension the car felt like a different world in handling to my tt can see why these cars make good track cars,did'nt feel nowhere as fast though!

Did you notice what tyres were on the car that you drove? The GT3 seems quite tyre-sensitive.
Clubsport who fit's pss9 for £1,500? The car I drove had michlin pilots on,don't get me wrong the gt3 was quick you had to wind it up the rev range though turbo you just floor it and your into silly speeds! just need a nice suspension set up and a little weight loss! P.S when I done Bedford on the 1/5/05 there were a few gt3's there only glen(yellow gt3 black wheels)was quicker! The others were tight on me in the tight bends(hence my tired standard suspension) but once onto open flat out bends and straights i'd pull away until we got to the next set of tight bends!

Its easier to be fast in a turbo on track as you don't need to carry speed through the corners as much. Its much more flattering and infinitely easier. I know, I used to have a Noble
Personally I'd expect a competent driver in a GT3 to have the legs on a standard 993 or even 996 turbo on track.
Wini, I think the kit alone costs £1500 or so, 9m sells the kit for around that on his website. It cost me another £750 to have it fitted, although they did spend 1.5 days alone on the set up of the kit. You could save on the cost of the kit by buying it from overseas, the kits on sale in the US seem cheaper than here.
It is well worth the money IMHO.
Though if you want to do lots of track work, maybe the GT3 or a 993 RS is the way forward?

So you'd hold them up and then use your power to pull away before holding them up again? Sounds like a typical Turbo trackday driver

I must say, MOD is basically correct; these cars are awesome to watch on track and at some point, I'd love to have one, perhaps when I'm retired and Gordon 'The Deceiver' Brown hasn't got an operational cattle prod up one's ass, permanently electrocuting.
As I'm sure Johnny Senna & Co will attest, the fully bored scream of an RS is intoxication central and on track you're exploiting precisely that full-cane potential, revelling in what Clubsport hails as quite the most fabulous steering feel in existence.
Otherwise, for 'street' use, the blown pigs are more or less indominatable and yes, feel decisively quicker: PSS9 is a default choice for all Turboists, imho.
Got taken around Bedford autodrome by a highly competent GT3 driver last Saturday.
That car is "
ME!" fast in the right hands. Huge grin.
But the best entertainment I had (other than when driving) was a passenger ride in a 944 Turbo driven completely sideways round the circuit by a gentleman who must be Colin McRae's more talented cousin. It wasn't quick. But I laughed uncontrollably the entire way round.
Captain Sideways has competition let me tell you.
Sheer speed isn't everything. Given its not a race - its having FUN that matters.

Wini sorry for the huge misunderstanding 1500 quid...ok, buy it from the states, it is possible to fit it yourself, obviously set up needs to be right (Specialist) you won't be too far over that figure and should be under 2 grand. Cheap when you consider the bid/offer change over cost from a TT to a Gt3.
The point I was trying to get over is that the heavy uncomunicative feel of a standard 993TT can be greatly enhanced by the fitment of pss9 (or similar) DeR and MOD have both transformed their cars with the kit and both seem very happy.

Ah yes. That was at the second gear hairpin wasn't it.
Saw a good few cars lose it there...in my rear view mirror...
In fact there were a lot of "offs" that day...although I didn't have one. Perhaps I wasn't trying hard enough.
Its a testament to the excellent circuit design, huge runoff areas, and the common sense of the PCGB drivers who kept safe distances for the very most part that at Bedford such "offs" were all part of the fun - rather than a session stopping disaster.
I'll be going to Bedford again. Simply brilliant.

It was good that we had the chance to fly round the dry circuit in the morning and hone our skills in the wet afternoon session...
I never span either,,,mainly due to the massive understeer I had with the car,,,most I managed was a few fish tails, managed to get 200 track miles in for the day which makes it reasonable value.
