any ideas? 2nd gear prob

hi,i am new to this and to owning a porsche.i have had a 1980 3.0sc for 2 months and tonight i cannot get 2nd gear!. it was stiff to start with but if you didnt force it it could be eased in. could it be due to the linkage? or should i be really worried? any ideas , thanks mark.

could be a linkage, clutch selector fork or a sign that the gearbox is just about to go "bang" literally. I sold a 3.2 with a stiff 2nd gear - told the new owner about it and advised him to slow the changes down a bit but heard a few weeks later that he'd shagged the 'box

thanks for that, just got in from work...spanners out,fingers crossed that it will go in gear when the gear stick and rod are disconnected....worth a try

How old is the transmission oil?

I dont know, had the car 2 months,the guy i bought it from said it had a lube service recently,...could mean anything!
