Are all porsches 2y service intervals? GT?

Looking at perhaps picking up at 991.1 GT3
I know its relative but for the higher base cars like Turbo S and GTs, being able to have a 2y service and also potentially do it at an independent just makes for incredible cheap cost of motoring
Just to clarify its 2y servicing or like X miles? whichever comes first right

That’s correct - I think for most of these cars the 2-years comes up before the (20,000?) mileage limit.I know its relative but for the higher base cars like Turbo S and GTs, being able to have a 2y service and also potentially do it at an independent just makes for incredible cheap cost of motoring

I used to have an oil-change in between services but certainly not necessary, unless it’s driven extremely hard on a regular basis.

Which ones are you looking at picking up? OPC/Indy?I know its relative but for the higher base cars like Turbo S and GTs, being able to have a 2y service and also potentially do it at an independent just makes for incredible cheap cost of motoring

Similarly to you I initially started my search considering McLarens but now squarely set on a 991.2 GT3 or AMG GTR. I'll decide over the next day or so and pull the trigger as there are certainly deals to be done if you can complete it before EOY as there are sales targets to be hit and the stretch to the .2 is well worth it
My service book indicates every 2 years / 12k miles (or 20k km) for the GT3. Servicing isn't especially cheap at an OPC, but the pay off is you can take advantage of the incredibly cheap extended warranty, which is the same flat rate around £1k/year for all 991s, from Carrera to GT2. That'll become more important once 991.1 GT3s get to the end of their 10 year free engine warranty.
As an indication, the recent 8 year / 48k mile service (at 23k miles) on my GT3 cost £1800 at Reading, which was the "major" interval service, plus brake fluid change and spark plugs, all of which are on the recommended maintenance schedule outside the core service cost. The previous intermediate service also required a PDK clutch fluid change, so you'll find that there's almost always something beyond the main service and brake fluid change that bumps up the cost.

Seems like you will probably move into something first
Its just my prudent / rationale head taking over and thinking stay with porsche because buying the right porsches can be such low cost of ownerships e.g. nothing going wrong , and then the great servicing options. Also thinking ~2y time I want to be moving into a 458 (if tastes dont change) so instead of taking monetary hit now in say a mclaren just play it a bit more safe , but its all speculations/timing
What was your thinking about 991.2 GT3 - just more modern? or do you think it will hold the value better then a 991.1 GT3. Doesnt make sense for my own budget for the .2 given thats coming up to lower end of 458 territory.
With the GTR do you have any knowledge on how well that is going to hold its £100k+ right? I just became a bit put off by the GTS GTC then GTR..I had just guessed its hard to hold the value there and if thats the case sports series type mclarens which value wise are quite low I feel but of course maintenance wise probably higher costing, works better for me in my mind

When thought about relative I still think that is very cheap. In terms of annual costs e.g. that £1800 /2 = £900 + say the £1k extended warranty you mention ~ £1.9k...Im thinking nearly every other car at the price mark ~£100k+ would be much more.
And then if you did that at an independent and didnt have official warranty even less of an annual cost say £1k?

I've actually been a bit impatient as I've only got the diesel estate to run around in and went and reserved this today and would hopefully pick it up in the next couple of weeks! https://www.sytner.co.uk/vehicle-details/64e388dc-...Seems like you will probably move into something first

I've managed to get some money off as well so I'm pretty pleased with the deal and it's still relatively new with less than 4k miles
Before I decided I also went to see a .2 GT3 and decided against it because as great as a car it was, my use case of 80% road and 20% track was covered much better with the GTR with 20k change. I'll miss the 9000 rpm so perhaps I'll revisit my GT3 search in the future
In terms of the .1 to .2 debate, the interior of the .1 is starting to show its age and there are still question marks about the long term reliability of the engine if you ever fall out of the official OPC warranty once the 10 years have expired. Finally the track performance is much improved on the .2 which you can see from laptime comparisons here https://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/b7m5d938vhs7 although it won't matter much for predominantly road use.
Undoubtedly if you're mainly interested in not losing money then hands down the .1 is a much better proposition, especially if you buy one at the 90-95k level. I've seen the one at Ashgood in person and it's a bargain for what it is

Yes, as long as you keep the car in the OPC service network and renew the warranty every year for 1k or so. The 10 year engine warranty is free from date of first registration and covers the major risk of top end engine failure, without restrictions on who works on the car, but most cars will drop out of that in the next 2 years. But the important thing is that the paid extended warranty is very cheap compared to its rivals, and has very comprehensive cover compared to something like Ferrari’s extended warranty. Even with the extra cost of OPC servicing, you could still do wear and tear items at an Indy and enjoy comparatively low running costs. I’m a fan, as you can tell 👍dng992 said:

Porsche started this around 2004 to reduce the overall environmental impact of their cars and therefore improve their green credentials. This is when their engines started experiencing bore scoring problems. I have a 2010 base Boxster with 40k on the clock. I had it inspected by an indie Porsche specialist chap (lives nowhere near me so I'd never get him to do service work etc) just before xmas. It's in great condition, esp mechanically, and has been serviced every year since new. In his opinion, this is THE most important thing with Porsche ownership. Irrespective of manufacturer recommended intervals, at the very minimum, full oil change every year. I don't get why anyone would want to scrimp on a relatively low expense to keep a relatively high value car in good nick?
