Merry Christmas All,

Drove up the M1 yesterday in my car a 997 (2011) and as I hit the frozen north I put the cabin temperature up to 24 degrees and it seemed to have little effect. Increased the temperature up to 29 degrees and then HI and it got warmer, but only by put the fan up to maximum.

Previously, if I put the temperature up to 24 degrees and the fan on a few bars, I'd be boiling in no time.

The car is well serviced by the OPCs, though I've had a minor clicking noise coming from the rear of the car but had dismissed it as being nothing, no beginning to wonder.

Any ideas, beyond me turning into a soft southerner?

Cheers.

Have you checked your coolant level?
Cabin sensor failure can also happen

Update - today the OPC checked coolant level and the replacement coolant pipework, that they installed in the Autumn and could find nothing amiss.

I swear the heater is not as effective/warm as it used to be.

I guess I'll keep an eye on it and see if I've lost the plot....

Cheers and Happy New Year All.

Same thing happened to me on a cold snowy day shortly after i'd had my coolant crossover pipes replaced. Turned out to be an airlock in the system .
Took a while for me to work out but one symptom was temp gauge misreading/ showing virtually zero.
Sometimes getting the whole system air free is a little bit of a two stage process. Fill, use, bleed, fill again.

Thanks, that is really helpful MM,

I have asked the OPC to confirm exactly what checks they carried out and whether they investigated an airlock, or if the temperature gauge was faulty.

If coolant system fully checks out ok, it might be the cabin temp sensor - try carefully vacuuming the small grille above the digital display in the climate control unit.
It commonly gets full of dust and lint.

Failing that, get the codes read.
