Hello,

Are there still waiting lists and restricted allocations for 718 GT4 and 718 Spyder? Are there lots of cancelled orders due to high interest rates and options not available?

Yes, there are plenty of cancelled orders. I was offered one of two last week - 1 was spec amendable, the other spec locked. I didn't take either up but I do know they went. If you want one, get phoning around

Why do you think they have been cancelled? Despite higher interests rates, lack of certain options and cars not demanding premiums I still think they are attractive cars to own because will there be another petrol powered GT4 when the next Caymen and Boxster are EV only.

Because I was told they were by the salesman

I did not doubt you. I know a couple of friends offered gt4’s. My question was why so many available or why so many cancellation?

Remember some of the options currently restricted in availability include the most popular ones. So PCCB, buckets, clubsport and PTS.

One or more of those will be on many customers list of red line items they don’t want the car without.

The increase in OPC interest rates from Feb ‘22 to now means a £100k car on £40k down, 36mo, 5k miles p/a deal has gone from £380 per month to £680. Big jump on what will be for many an additional car.

Allocations with some ringing around have not been massively hard to source for last 18mo’s or so. Last summer was probably the hardest period when OPC’s didn’t know or wouldn’t admit to know what they had coming allocation wise.
Porsche have very much switched strategy on allocations with unavailable options being force deleted at finalisation, the car will now be built just not necessarily with what the customer wanted.

Ah, I see. I think interest rate rises and general cost of living but they didn't really dwell on it - more a case of "they decided not to proceed", with a nod to the finance deals they had available.

Apart from the 2 GT4s I was offered, I was also offered a spec amendable Macan GTS, which I have taken up with build date of April and delivery in May. It wouldn't surprise me if they had a few other cancelled orders but they knew I was looking at a Macan and had a history of Porsche and cars I take on track and hence being offered the GT4s I think

Recalling the words of Andreas Preuninger regarding the 718 Spyder in 2019, (para "this time around anyone that deserves one should get one"), how many consider themselves deserving but not granted an allocation? With the end of production confirmed, are Porsche producing enough to satisfy the pre-existing order bank? Just out of curiosity.

No, I wanted one and cannot get one. My OPC had me down for one this year but that is not happening now.

Should have rephrased “anyone who is a flipper will get one” along with 50% of gt4 production and 99% of gt4rs production!

Have been down in past for both never got either even after over 20 years of Porsches and staying loyal with servicing at PCs
We the loyal enthusiasts don't get a look in we are expected to buy way over list price used.
If a company has orders deposits for such cars make them keep customers happy but no doesn't seem the case.
So simple answer is no Porsche don't make enough of these models

Spyders have always been in lower supply and definitely harder to get hold of.

However, GT4s have been plentiful and in production for almost 3 years. Total UK supply will have been around 1200 cars, twice as many as the 981 GT4. If you started talking to OPCs around the time of release in 2019 I'd be surprised if you didn't get a car. Arriving late to the party in the midst of all the supply chain issues for the last 18 months I'd be less surprised that a car wouldn't be forthcoming as the waiting lists for allocations really started to back up, however cars were still coming through.

You had to work for one, they don't just land in your lap, but GT4 allocations were obtainable. They have to have been if a Joe Bloggs like me got one.

Interesting that the c1200 UK 718 GT4s have had an abnormally long production run of around 4 years whereas the c620 UK 991.2 GT3s had a production run of under 12 months.

I enquired at my local OPC spring 2021. Told a categoric “No, you don’t qualify for a GT car” (I’d bought 3 new Porsches in the previous 7 years from same OPC).

However, they contacted me less than 24 hours later offering an already spec’d cancelled order, which I bought.

Enquired about a Spyder at the beginning of this year. Was told I was wasting my time at they had zero expectation of further slots.
