I am wanting to fit a fire extinguisher to my 993. The car is an RS and has factory-fitted Recaro buckets with manual fore/aft adjustment. I would like to mount the extinguisher on the floor just in front of the passenger seat rails, ideally so that it moves back and forth with the seat so it stays out of the way. The mount and extinguisher shouldn't foul anything or block hand access to the fore/aft seat adjuster. I expect someone has done this before, so if I could piggy back off anyone's hard won experience that would be great.

This one from Rennline looks a possibility, but in the installation instructions it is shown being fitted to a non-Recaro seat with the fore-aft adjuster in a different location to my car.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

I got one of these https://sqiirlmods.com/shop/porsche911 for my GT3. Appreciate different cars but maybe worth a call to see if they'd make you one if you send them the measurements. It's a great bit of kit and inexpensive.

Get a fire stick, lighter, better and no mess if you had to use it.

Tend to agree. I recently met someone who’s son works for Porsche in Germany and they were telling me about a OPC 991 RS that had effectively been written off due to the fire extinguisher malfunctioning and exploding in the car…no way back from there apparently.

^^ This.

My car suffered an electrical fire two months ago and a passer by had a Firestick. It put the fire out in around 10 seconds after I had removed the battery which was the source of ignition.

Never seen one before, now I have two - one in each car. Utterly brilliant and very small and easy to carry.

Agreed. Another vote for a fire stick. We use them now in rallycars in addition to the mandatory plumbed in and hand held regular extinguisher. The first stick is lighter, easier to store, less volatile, makes less mess, and is more effective at putting out a fire. They come in a variety of sizes which denotes the discharge time.

Thanks everyone for you input. I will get a fire stick. Having to get a proper fire extinguisher serviced every few years also sounds like a pain
