Track Day Stone Chip protection?

Recently had some paint work done on the front and now I'm going onto the Track. (Crazy I know! should of had it done after the track day).
The bodyshop advised me to put grease on the front of the car for the trackday to reduce stone chipping - has any heard of doing this? They say it reduces chipping and cleans off easily afterwards.
Anyone got experience of this? (what type of grease?) OR other ideas for the day to avoid/reduce stone chips?

Try Armourfend or Paintshield for a clear film solution. Not cheap but then neither are resprays. Just as important for the track in the old TT with over 500 bhp will be top notch brake pads - pagid yellows or similar, high boiling point fluid and high quality tyres e.g. Pirelli Corsa's or Michelin Cup's. Again neither are cheap but then again they will allow you to get the best out of your Monster. Anything else will be just a compromise.

Armourfend is the best option to stop chips. Bearing in mind a bit of front end paintwork can cost £1k+ you can do the complete armourfend kit for less.
Had it fitted to my 993GT2, have done £5k mostly track miles and not a chip on the paintwork. Where the armourfend has been hit by stones, not pierced the plastic and got to the paint.
Highly recommended.

Does the £383 include fitting?? If so then that's a bit of a bargain. If not, fitting is a job for an expert. Paintshield did my GT3 and they have done an excellent job, on a black car you have to look really hard to see it - thoroughly recommended.

Not including fitting - they do it, but they also give full instruction on how to DIY
Why not get a roll of semi sticky clear film and just stick it on quickly for the day over the front end. It won`t look pretty (in fact the less tight fitting the better for stone chips). Then pull it off at the end of the day & all the rubber from the marbles comes with it.
It can`t be hard to track down some, people use it all the time to protect doors etc in transit.
Oh and stay out of the gravel.

Get a roll of Helicopter tape from Trident Racing at Silverstone:

Comes in 2", 4", and 6" rolls or a 2 foot square sheet. From memory the 6" roll is £3 a metre. It's clear, very thick and comes on and off with a hair dryer for temporary trackday useage.

Front Bonnet
Bottom of front wings under headlights
Trailing edge front wheelarchs
Front arch extensions
Both side sills
Both door mirrors
Rear arch extensions
Section of both rear wings
Trailing edge rear wheelarch

I've got an Armourfend type product on my rear arch extensions and rear inner front wheel arches. After trackday I'm finding it very difficult to remove black molten rubber marks. Easy to remove from bodywork except the protected parts. It's as though the molten rubber has melted into the plastic sheet. Has anyone else experienced this?
Helicopter tape suggestion is very interesting. The product sol by most of the professional installers is 3M based and uses the same stuff that was developed for the leading edges of helicopter rotor blades.
As for cleaning off molten rubber marks, have you tried WD40 or petrol??
