So we've had our 987 2.7 for a couple of months or so and have to say that it is a truly fantastic car, capable of doing biblical things immediately upon demand (I appreciate I am preaching somewhat to the converted here). By dropping the drivers seat to it's lowest point and sitting bolt upright like a rally driver, with the wheel (adjustable for reach and rake) and pedals perfectly straight ahead and arms nicely bent, you could almost think that you were Rohrl himself, punting the car round the 'ring. With the sports exhaust behind (no problem with the "talk" department..hey hey) and the wheel jiggling about, feeling every bump in the road (was that a ladybird I just ran over?), it is in many ways perfect.

What I do find though (and this is not a major criticism) is that it's relative lack of torque can be somewhat annoying at times. Dropping down a cog or two immediately solves the problem, but sometimes I just wish it had that little bit more...grunt. 5th gear at 70mph springs to mind, where acceleration is far from explosive. Obviously this is a by product of having a peak torque figure at 4700rpm, so with hindsight maybe we should have saved the extra £8K up and bought a "S".

Any opinions?

How many miles on the clock - it will improve, but maybe needs 6k on before it feels sprightly.

Mine seemed to improve at 10k.

Bear in mind its the best part of 1.5 tonnes with 2 passengers.

She's not too far short of 6K now, so hopefully she'll feel sprightlier soon.
