ENGINE COOLANT
Discussion
Andrew
This subject was discussed a little while ago which coincided with my light flashing. It only did it after some spirited driving and I was a bit concerned but was assured it was quite normal. Evidently the coolant sloshes around in the resevoir and causes it to read low.
Mine was a little low so, without immediate availability of Porsche coolant, I was advised to use distilled water. I did so, about 1 pint, and it's been fine ever since.
Suggest you either get some Porsche coolant or fill with distilled. Check the level again after a few miles and see where it is. If it's lost more you may have a more pressing problem. Expansion tanks are known to split and have to be replaced with an upgraded tank. Also you need the latest cap. Also the Renntech forum is a great place for info. It's a US site so transpose left to right for anything "side" specific.

i inspected my coolant level on my gt2 and too my surprise it appeared almost empty.
I went through the same dilema and called my local porsche center.
they said it was absolutely fine to fill with normal water to the min mark, but to just make a careful note of how much water I had put in so that they could add the same amount of coolant fluid.
I wouldn't say that its normal for the light to flash and would get ur system pressure tested if u refil with coolant and u start to get the same issue.
it turned out to be an airlock and not a leak...to my relief! cheers

The coolant used to be used neat - it can now be dilute, and a dilution to 40-50% is ok for UK conditions. The bottle gives the concentrations and resulting temps.
It sounds odd that you've lost some, though airlocks can fill all of a sudden (I replaced my rads recently and it still drops every now and again as some air escapes).
Andrew - I think you eailed me from ebay about the coolant I have on there - happy to sell you a bottle.
cheers
