Lovely things, but are they great to drive?

A 58 is a good drive,54 to 56 not so good with out a few mods, also underpowered hence a lot run 912 motors.

Drove one some years ago - during a long summer, in London.

Had a lovely ‘patina’ of age, but a few discreet tweaks - rebored to 1700cc, Mahle pistons, upgraded carb, suspension, drum brakes and exhaust, and semi-bucket seats.

Still a ‘vintage’ drive, but a lot of fun at sensible speeds.
Brakes were the biggest deterrent.

With its GT3 underpinnings I'd clearly go for the 991.2

I’d go for a Spyder, or a Spyder RS.

This would be my thinking too if I were in the position...

All Speedsters seem to priced at a large premium, so I'd want something underneath to make it worthwhile.

I don't think I could stomach 200 grand for a 964 which although very rare, is just a 964 underneath is it not?

That red 964 speedster looks so much better than the barge parked next to it.
