OK, got my car (2nd hand), absolutely fantastic, although no Sport Suspension (which I wanted, but my wife is pregnant) now want to track it.

What is the best place for it, including tuition. I need to insure it, but I would like the best possible tuition / track (meaning no walls 2cm from the track!). No point in paying for such a car and then running off into a wall!

Oh and if I do damage the car, my wife will most likely a)never allow to track with the 997
b)no allow me to buy another one!!!

Track to play around on: Bedford, it has almost no track scenery, tho it will cane your brakes.

Try a Don Palmer day, either at Bedford Autodrome on a track day or at Bruntingthorpe on your tod. Insurance can be arranged through Competition Car Insurance (google Egger Lawson) but it will be pricey. You are running a 60k car... they will probably only cover 30k's worth.

Or have a Circuit Limits day with Andrew Walsh, no insurance required as there's nothing to hit and it's all tuition.

Day by Day track insurance is horribly, horribly expensive. Every single quote I've ever had has either made me laugh (on a good day) or cry (on a bad one). In either case the phone got put down immediately and nothing got bought.

You need to get track insurance via your Road Policy. Best thing is to join the PCGB and talk to Manning's insurance who can get you FREE Porsche Club GB TRack Da insurance cover.

YOu can also go with other people who will charge you hundreds of pounds more and £70 - £100 per track day. Usually with a horrible excess too - like £5K!

The advantage of going with "the other people" (Norwich Union underwrite it IIRC) is that you can use any track day organiser who is part of the ATDO (Association of Track Day Organisers).

You pays your money and you takes your choice. Once you are off road (Say at MIRA, TRL, Millbrook or any track you care to mention your road insurance won't pay out unless it specifically includes this stuff) so I recommend making sure you are covered properly.
