Insurance & Convertibles
Discussion
Just picked up a topic off another forum whereby insurance companies will not cover you if your convetible is nicked and you had the roof down. Doesn't matter if the car is locked, if the roof is down, no payout.
I checked my policy wording and it is the case. I'm with Privilege and shall be closing my roof in future when the car is left unattended.
Might be worth checking your policy and passing this little known info (in my case anyway) on to other unsuspecting Cab owners.

Presumably the cover for theft is negated, not for accidents.... otherwise you would be uninsured when travelling with the hood down. That said, it's a silly rule. A hood won't stop a thief and neither will a side window of a fixed head car. Immobilisers and trackers are the best defence and they have sod all to do with the hood being up or down.
