Porsche at Tuners' Grand Prix, Donnington 17th September

I looked at the event, but it seemed so geared towards UK tuners that it made it seem like other entries were not really welcomed eg German tuners and customer-owned cars i.e. like most people on here. Also the problem with these type of 'shootout' days is that unless they are set-up right you get very little track-time.
My car would also not pass a 98dB limit they are stating and I'd be surprised if many of the tuned cars in the UK would, since a sports exhaust is usually the first modification.
Good luck to them on the event though, I look forward to hearing how it was.

We had hoped to have a 996 GT2 at the event from our German partner T-T-P but sadly the car is not ready. We will have Weltmeister tuned Porsche cars at next years event for sure.
The event is aimed at Tuners not individuals as there are events aimed at owners already.
There is a mix of makes but sadly Porsche is not represented as well as we would have looked.
Guy could confirm that it may be a mistake to underestimate the capabilities on track of Japanese Turbo cars.

There is a little more info on the website now.. and it would appear there is a 996 in attendance.
I hope to be heading down to catch up with a colleague of mine who is with one of the magazines. So hopefully will get myelf some decent parking.
Am heading down Early Early for a blast in the carand staying until Lunch I think... weather permitting and provided I can get in for free - no interest in paying tyvm

Well I popped over to catch up with one of the editors from Unity Media, I managed to get in for nothing and acess the press/driver hospitality section so I couldn't complain regardless of the standard of the day. I think if I had travelled a long way and paid for entry I might have been a little dissappointed.
The event was ok to be honest... the turnout wasn't in the 10's of thousands like I got the impression there might have been and to be honest it was all the better for it.
The stalls/trade bits were naff, nothing of interest unless you needed an alloy tax disc holder etc. etc
The cars in the Tuner GP were deffinately worth attending to see, some were impressive some were very average but seeing them beating it out to try and set the quickest laptimes and find a gap on track to put in a quick run was good.
The 1/4mile shootout was ok but some of the quickest cars there on the day didn't participate in this section which was a shame.
The drift academy bit... not my thing but impressive none the less, some great car control.
Becuase the turnout wasn't massive you could wander in and out of all the pit garages, stand on the pit wall and generally get really close to the action.
I had a good day not least because I got up at 6:30 am and had a great blast up the A6
The quickest laptimes (before I left at lunch) were from a 996Turbo(looked like it had a pro driving it - but the car was pretty standard so could have been SOOO much faster) and a westfield XTR thingy.
