Got the dreaded PADM Disabled fault as pic. 2016 981 Spyder on 19000 miles. Any options other than replace (for which I have to wait a month)? Should I do both sides while it is at dealer?

They updated the parts earlier this year, no idea if that will fix the inherent problem with these however mine both replaced and so far OK. If the new design is reliable I would definitely do both at the same time as its usually just a matter of time when they fail and worth doing one trip instead of two imo.

If under warranty then don't expect them to change both unless both have failed

Had these go on my 718 Spyder and both my first and current GT4.

Disgrace really, should be a free recall if out of warranty.

Yep mine went the other week 718 GT4. Going in next week.

Asked OPC about both sides being done simulateously but Porsche won't allow this under warranty.

To the OP make sure they do a four wheel alignment after the work as the rear underbrace has to be removed to do the work.

Thanks all. Never bothered with warranties but will get both sides done and a geo.

Just collected my 718 Spyder after having a second mount replaced in 6 months. To my surprise, it went in to be diagnosed, they had the part in stock and I had the car back in 48 hours fixed. In previous years I think it was book it in for diagnosis (even though we all know what it is) at 6 week lead time, get told it’s the mount and you’ll need to re-book it for another month or two out. I assume they’ve sorted supply chain and now have dozens of these on the shelf. I won’t talk about awesome service as the bloody thing shouldn’t be this fragile, but certainly better than last year. I was also told it was a revised part that had been fitted which should hopefully prevent a recurrence - I’ll believe that when I see it.

Last time I saw the bill and it was c£1300 from memory. Normally I’d self insure everything, but for this car with this recurring faulty part it’s worth a warranty in financial terms if a mount might go roughly every 18 months. The cynic in me wonders if the maths of one part per car per 18 months on the warranty still makes money for Porsche - the £1300 per repair is clearly Porsche pricing and mostly labour so there’s a tonne of Porsche margin in there and it locks me into the warranty.

Given that they are notoriously unreliable and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference, wouldn't it be better for all concerned if they just did away with the active mounts?

Isn't there any way of swapping over to non PADM mounts and coding them out?

This will no doubt come back to bite me, but I'm starting to think mine have been coded out - 2015 981 CGTS pushing 36000 miles and not a peep from the notoriously unreliable PADM.

Don't they just fail on firm anyway and no-one would even know if they'd failed and been coded out?

I have heard it's tied to PASM so if you code it out PASM still checks for a signal from the active mounts and when it receives no signal you get the error code....according top rennlist

PADM failure to firm chassis setting by default is an internet myth.

Mine remained in standard setting after failure of one engine mount sensor.

It is the PADM sensor failure which causes the issue and warning message btw.

1 day for OPC to do 1 PADM replacement and 4 wheel OEM geo.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone out there.
My PADM failed for the third time... and honestly, after getting fed up with it, I decided to dig a little deeper into the issue. While browsing through some forums, I came across a thread discussing sensor replacement. So I did a bit of Googling and found a replacement part available at Zuffenparts. I ordered it, and it arrived in about a week.
Yesterday, I tackled the installation myself (with the help of the included manual. I wouldn’t have dared try without it!). Once everything was reassembled and plugged back in, the system started working perfectly. No need to visit the dealer, no reset required, the fault code just disappeared on its own.
Huge relief!
Massive thanks to everyone who takes the time to share advice here. Your posts really helped me figure this out!
