"Sports" car i'd have a 993tt (though i could understand someone wanting a 996tt or 996GT2)
"GT" i'd have a 550M or a DB7 Vantage (V12).
"Track" - hard to beat a Radical SR3 i reckon.

Just my taste, etc.

I agree with VS on all 3 counts but if you want one car that does all three well then its got to be a 996tt.

There's too many categories to consider...

eg Hooning down the lanes (1.5 hours to get the Sunday papers etc).

Fast A road: my 996 C4
Track: SR3 or Aerial Atom
Country lanes: bike engined Caterham

That said, I'm still finding it hard to resist the Noble. Its not the best in any category for me, but its the best all rounder.

Then again, no one has put a priority on looks. If looks are as important as performance then its a 550.

I love the GT2 in red, the colour doesn't work on any other modern 911 (IMO)

Me again... one car to do it all? And i have to pay the bills? And stand at the side of the road in the rain if/when it breaks down?

Only two choices then, 993RS or 996GT2...

its got to be one car only...
thats the acid test..
it has to be able to do track days
take you for the weekend blast,
take you to work on a friday
do the Europe trip,
satisfy the GF(yeah never)
Do the high street thing...
Also go out in the rain
THE LOT..
kind of rules out the Radicals and superlight weights....
Personally I think the Gallardo would suit the bill perfectly LHD .. in 18 months time...
the prices seem to be coming down in the Continent...

No car meets all those requirements. Fundamentally a good road car is going to suck on track and vice versa. Gallardos cost a fortune to maintain - did you see the article in autocar about P1s annual running costs. The G car and M car completely eclipsed everything else including GT2 and a v12 ferrari!
