I've found what looks like an extremely clean Turbo 2, has about 80k on the clock and full Porsche Service History.

Problem is that the garage doesnt really offer any kind of warranty - well, he'll offer a month or two.

Can anyone give me some advice on an aftermarket one, what levels of cover are afforded and perhaps an approx cost.

Thanks.

Get yourself a good Porsche inspection if you're not comfortable looking yourself. All waranties and a bit crap IMHO and just picking a good car to start with will save a fortune in the long run.

Totally agree with Scottster. Nearly all independent warranties are an absolute waste of time. You'd be amazed at what comes under 'wear and tear'. Spend your money on a good inspection and you'll almost certainly get it back in bargaining potential.

Can I just phone AFN or Chapelgate and ask them or are there better independent ones to ask?

U-V replied to my first topic and advised that the Turbo is good for about 80,000 miles and as this is the current mileage, I'm a little worried!

From personal (and expensive) experience, off-the-shelf warranties are not worth the paper their written on. Def. go for a good inspection.

I agree with all the poster in regards to after market warranties, They are a load of horse piss! no good to man or beast ..... I reckon its the quickest £650.00 I ever wasted, Would rather have bought a keg of beer and pissed it out against the wall. I Tried to claim for a couple of things after I bought my car, Only paid out for one and it was the one thing I thought I tried my luck on, most of the other issues were genuine in my opinion..... Dont waste your money, Get it Porsche checked and be happy with their years of experience!!

Hope you get what you are looking for!

12 months warranty on my M3 isnt worth a w*$k RAC Gold Cover. More like gold plated cover. Everything seems to be 'wear and tear'. Yes including the dreaded VANOS prob (£1600). Dont do it!
