Have a 996 Targa and am really pleased with it. HOWEVER one niggle, the drivers window sometimes goes down on it's own, when opening the door, or after leaving the car after I've locked it.
Annoying and possibly a security risk!
My local (good) Porsche dealer can't find anything wrong...any input chaps?

Hmmm, i thought it was my imagination...so I blamed the Mrs!!

Mine did that a few months ago on the passenger side, came out the next morning and found window 6" down. Wasn't sure whether I had inadvertantly left it open when parking up the night before. It's (touchwood) never done it again, cannot repeat it either.

Be interested to hear of anyone else having this too.

Funnily enough I seem to get it in damp weather more than otherwise? Connector or switch getting damp?

Had the same problem in my '98 996. I think it was a faulty relay in the door (fixed under warranty at the time so I can't comment on how expensive/difficult it was to fix ).

if youhave warranty..or extended warranty....this is covered. it happens to my 996 gt2 when the car is warm???? on the passenger side when the door is opened...instead of dropping 1/2 an inch is goes all the way down..... its covered under locking mechanism.

what OPC u at?
