I hear the 19" will give a uncompfortable ride compared to the 18"'s
I have mine lowered by 15mm (so im told) and have the 18" wheels on it, ride is perfecto, long journeys are no problems at all either, its just right.
Although I cant tell you what diff this made as it left the factory like this. .. .. . .

Why do you suggest that you wouldn't lower it with 19's?
The overall diameter should stay the same with the correct tyres whether 18 or 19's.
I have just fitted 19's to my 996 TT and I reckon the car needs lowering but I think that then I would be into rolling the arches as the Cargraphics sit out further than std. So just be aware. rolling arches on these cars is not so easy I'm told.

Gary, don't spose you could post the dimension from ground -> middle (top) of wheelarch on your car could ya? Back & front?
Mine also looks a fair bit lower than a lot of C2's I look at, but pretty sure it hasn't got any official lowering kit...just curious. It's certainly not quite as low as Mk1 GT3's even though it has the aerokit on it.

I have tried lots of different combinations it all depends on how harsh a ride you are willing to put up with.
If you dont go any lower than 20mm springs with porsche upgraded shocks it will be exceptable,but very firm,beyond that 30mm and aftermarket shocks the car will be rock solid and stick to the road like glue,but dont expect your rear tyers to last beyond 5k.
You can always leave the standard shocks and go just for the 30mm springs its a cheaper option and works well,also upgrading the anti-roll bars,porsches own will make this stiffer again.
My car has the factory upgrade -10mm springs,sports shocks and anti rollbars,while i'd like this to be stiffer i conceed that this is the most flexible option,the car is firm and easy on the rear tyers and not harsh at all.
As for the wheels stick to 18's while the 19's look better it will tramline like a bast.rd and at high speed it wont be nice.This is what i have found with my four previous porsches and im sure if you take it to an expert you might find an even better solution.
If i had money to blow i would put the same set up on my car that the GT3 uses,it will be bone shaker but it what drive!

I had 19's fitted to my C4s cab. had no problems at all and the ride didn't suffer as others had suggested. The tramlining on my GT3 is much much worse than the C4s with 19's was.
Only thing that would put me off 19's again is the state of the british roads....doesn't take much for the alloys to get a bashing as the tyres are so low profile they offer little protection.

kerry - my advice is that 19 inch wheels will require such a low profile tyre that at the first pothole u'll have ur teeth shaken out and prob end up with a knckered tyre. also i guess that lower profile is also more expensive. Ihave 315/30/18 on my gt2 and that is plenty low profile enough.
also...r u going to track it...or just road....just road then def stick with the higher profile 18 in nd lower the car if u feel the need.

have you had the springs fitted?
i have been looking at getting some progressive rate springs for my 04 996C2 as i think it sits to high on standard suspension. -30mm is just what i'm looking for and the springs are available for about £200+vat
Will the steering/track etc need re setting up as well?
Where are you getting side skirts from?
