I'm looking for people to contribute to booking an airfield for a day. I recall the cost is around £4000 for the day, but haven't checked recently. If there is enough interest I'll organise it and see if 911 & Porsche World would be interested in coming along too.

I'm potentially interested, as long as :

The airfield's surface isn't too abrasive (so I don't trash tyres too quickly), it's got loads of run-off (so I don't trash my car too quickly) and it hasn't got loads of loose gravel lying around (so I don't trash the lovely look of my front end too quickly).

Sort of like Bedford Autodrome, but cheaper!

Yep - interested. Will bring along the 968 CS which I'd like to chuck around to get a proper feel for the handling on and beyond the limits

UV if money is involved make sure you always get it up front from the feckers at 911 & P/W. As otherwise after somewhere in the region of 6 months, you will probabally have to start court procedings to get ya cash.

Oohh yes sounds very good. I'll have some of that as long as its within striking distance of me down here in Devon - so Aberdeen is out etc.
What do you reckon pricewise, if there are 40 bods that's £100 each right.
Is there interest enough to get 40 bods and would 40 cars be too many ?

I tried Dunkeswell aerodrome but they only run sprint races and you must be a member of a motor racing club to race etc etc. I just want to run my car round a 'track' in safety and as fast as I dare.
Private airfield idea sounds ideal.

Cheers !

Myself and some friends rented Bruntingthorpe for 2.5 hours and it only cost £300 between the four of us.

Its a huge place with a good long straight for top speed runs and some lovely wide corners

Yeah, I am up for this. However, I am in contact with some other PHers who are organising these 'drift days'. I will report back when in the office with more details. Cost was *very* cheap, and they limited it to 15 cars. If UV organises another, I would still be up for it etc.

Cheers

Your smokey engine will add to the baron's oil slick, aiding driftwork, so you'll be very welcome

Bruntingthorpe is south Leicestershire. A couple of miles from J20 of the M1.
