Creaking windscreen
Discussion
Had a new windscreen fitted to my 1996 993 Carrera 4 last Weds after the old one was cracked travelling down the M5.
The new one creaks something rotten ! I've heard of a solution by fitting some sort of tape inside the rubber surround. Anyone tried it ? Any ideas on cost ? Is it a DIY job/OPC etc. ?

Had this problem with my old 993tt. First, you need to find out if its the windscreen or the rubber seal that's creaking (ps: its actually just a trim and not a seal). Remove the rubber trim and go for a drive on a bumpy road where you know it would creak. If it is still creaking then go back to the company that fitted it and get them to re-fit correctly.
If it doesn't creak then there's no problem with the fitting and its the rubber trim rubbing against the windscreen frame. All you need to do is put a thin film of grease on the underside of the rubber trim and then refit. It may come back after a year and then you just repeat the process. If you want a permanent solution then apply teflon tape but thats a lot more time consuming and fiddly than applying grease.
