the dent was caused by a bloody curtain pole which had a hook on the end - don't ask....

It's left a small ding about 4 inches above the rear wheel arch and a bit of paint has chipped off (about the size of a grain of rice) - the car is silver too which makes it even more of a nightmare.

HELP!!!

Sorry to hear you've damaged your P&J. I once dropped an exhaust on my Elise, but fortunately only the armorfend was damaged.

Surely you just take it to an approved porsche body shop and get it fixed?

Hope you get it sorted out OK. Don't try and fix it yourself...

Bugger.

Only one option open to you. Book the car into the local Porsche approved bodyshop.

I've seen some of the dent devils in action and they are very impressive I believe it's down to the skills of the individual franchisee though.

Might be worth a post in GG asking for positive experiences in your area.

Its a brand new car which has had a dent and a big chip out of it. I really hope he doesn't get a dent devil type repair! Not a worthwhile shortcut on a car of this value imho!

The repair I saw was totally undetectable after it was completed. It depends on how the metal has been deformed as to the degree of success. If it hasn't stretched, then I personally would prefer the repair to be made using the parent metal. If it's beyond that, then OPC all the way.

A time served plater can work wonders with a bit of sheet steel.

Don't disagree about the dent removal necessarily, its more the quality of paint repair that would put me off.

Jim, I too have a silver 997S and on day three my secretary managed to dent it in the company car park. It was only a slight ding but it still was sickening being such a new car. I strongly recommend you take your car to an OPC repair centre especially if you want a good paint job. Try Bodytechnics in Slough who did a terrific job on my car. Not cheap though - a small dent cost £650 to repair but I suppose you also get peace of mind.

Did you get yourself a new secretary, too?

For a car so new get an OPC to do it, you should get a good job and, importantly, a warranty for the work.

Avoid OPC bodyshops...why....becasue they log the repair and I know of 2 instances where dealers have refused to buy cars with a record of accident damage (even minor). I have also seen some really poor repair work carried out by a certain "award winning" OPC bodyshops.

You are right there!!

I'm tempted to let a Dent Devil type place have a go and if they can't do it, then let Porsche have a pop.

Brilliant.

James,
Sorry for being a bit sarcastic on a Friday afternoon. I know exactly how you feel. The day I took delivery of my DB9 and parked it in the yard a branch from a tree feel down and scratched the roof...For a more constructive remark I suggest you take it to Solus in Hayes (Porsche endorsed). They have done a good job for me in the past.

Jim, there was quite an extensive thread on here around mid Aug time, concerning Dent Devil type people.

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=201323&f=48&h=0

A chap called diver944 posted who I think did a demo at the Brands Hatch Porsche Festival and also had a franchise (stnad to be corrected, no time to reread orig thread)...as someone said further up, it's down to the person doing the job, and this guy sounds consciencious enough...not a recommendation directly, and certainly that thread started off more negative than positive, but he may be worth speaking to?

Hope that helps...bad luck BTW...my Bro's S1 Elise was parked under his porch on night #1 of him aspiring to own one...night #1 happened to be stormy and a roof tile fell straight onto the bonnet, then bounced across the nearside wing ....we almost cried, it was a minter till then.

When I got my Mk3 GT3 a couple of years a go a cyclist managed to scratch it in Islington one night. Went to the OPC who had one of these dent / paint wizards come every wednesday. The guy did a great job and only if you knew the exact location could you find it and that depended on the light.

Have a word with the sales guy at your OPC and see what they say.

Result.

Had a place called Ace Dents recommended to me by the chap that sold me my Cayenne and 997 (he now works for me so I've got the 'inside track' on this type of thing!!).

At 7am this morning I drove round to see Harbi, the son in law of the owner Jasbir, at his house in Eltham.

I was given a drink of jiuce and told to wait 10 minutes - he repaired the dent and it cost £50 - the guy was a total gent and I would put this number into your phones for the next time ytou have a scuff etc -

Jasbir - 0208 859 8382

Cheers for your advice and no hard feelings Christian!
