I had one of their advertising reps on the phone the other day and as I said to him I can`t see how you can have a mag about just the 911. A 997 buyer is also going to be interested in the Gayman - what`s the difference between the cars, where does the extra money go.
What about the 964 buyer, he`ll be having a quick squint at a Boxster just to see what 16-20k buys.
What about the family that only has a permit for one car, mummy and daddy fancy a 996/7 but the 3 sprogs aged 7, 9 & 14 want them to sent the vac-omatic shrink packing bags back to QVC & check out a Cayenne.
On the motorspots front GT3`s form the staple part of our diet but it was great to be on the same track as a 928 GTS at Brands. Similarly there was a kindered spirit each time we passed the 944 during the recent 24 hour race at Silverstone.
You either have to produce a hideously detailed & dare I say boring as hell manuscript that documents individual 911 variants - no matter how subtle - quoting component weights & dimensions to the nearest nano-pascal or you widen the horizons & put the 911 into context.
A 3.2 Carrera & a 928 are very different animals but each with their own appeal and they were produced at the same time. How did they interact both then and now.
I wish the Mag success, certainly it`s gained good shelf placement in WH Smiths. I wonder if it will be able to compete with the more intimate and varied feel of say 911 & P world in which you may not like each article but there will always be something to occupy you whilst sitting on the crapper for a few minutes at least.

They realise you may not like all the articles - ah maybe thats why 911 & PW uses such absorbant paper!

I really enjoyed the write up of turbobloke's car, I've been a fan since the late 90s since reading his running reports in 911&PW. I thought the start of the article about the advert in the M5 services was a bit strong, and if I'd had something written about my pride and joy I might like to show my children. That's just me though.
no not just you. I thought the start of that article completely inapropriate.
It also went on too many times about not being able to drive the car just be a pasinger in it.
Yes I got it I understand no need to keep pushing the point.
I've been viewing these threads for ages and feel that now is the right time to make my feelings known to the Total 911 magazine staff. Please ignore the rantings of the few PHers that cannot see your publication for what it is. The November issue is the best car magazine I have ever read and the 911SvDino feature is a masterpiece - keep it up. The photos and the look of it is superb.
And turbobloke, I have narrowed it down and assume that the 'Forbiden Pleasures' story is about you and I have worked out your problem. I own a 964 Turbo and I can see that your ego may be bruised but I can find no reason for you to take offence so take it easy. I think your car is awesome sojust enjoy it being in such a brilliant mag.
After years of wanting one at last I own a 911 and don't want to read about 924s, 944s, Cayennes, Boxsters or Caymans. I will never buy one of them. Saying that a mag supporting the 911 is daft is like saying Land Rover magazines are a waste of time. Ther's a lot of history to go into and I will never get fed up with it. It's also nice to have the Other Icons at the back as Mrs Robson has something to read aswell which means I'm not nagged!

Franz I see no rants. Also the mag has had a lot of positive remarks on this forum.
I subscribe to all 3 Porsche mags(actualy that reminds me I had the reminders through the other day)
Im happy enough with just the pictures but Im sad that way.
I'm sure the guys at the mag understand you can't please all the people all the time. This particular article is the only one so far that I have noticed for the wrong reasons.
I have enjoyed it so far also I can never get enough of RUF's so they can do as many artickles as they want on them
that is after all how I found this site

that is after all how I found this site After browsing these forums for some months, this thread has finally made me join up. I rekon Total911 is the best porsche mag by far. Ive no interest in boxters, 944s and cayennes, just 911s.
I spoke to Phillip Raby when i was looking for a 911 and he was very helpful on the phone. Previosly I'd contacted the editor of one of the other mags and he didnt want to know. I then met Phillip at Brands hatch and we had another good chat, he's very into Porsches and a top bloke in my book.
Total911 gets my vote. If your reading this keep up the good work!!!
