Why own a sportscar
Discussion
Ive said it many times that I cannot see why people buy
Porsches and then pootle about in them like a micra. However not many people actually admit they drive like my gran, yet this fella a 968CS owner no less wrote the following on his 968 website-
"I generally don't drive the car above 3000 rpm, well I do sometimes take it up to 5000 if pride is at stake"
What!!so you have one of the best handling cars that Porsche have ever produced and you drive it like a mum on a school run!! any one who has driven the CS will tell you that at 3000rpm it is hardly moving, you need to rev the engine to make the car actually move quickly. God at least the car will be a geat 2nd hand purchace as it wont have ever even seen the redline.
jeez take the car away from him, the car was built to be trashed senseless for over 100,000 miles not to be pootled about...
rant over, I'll get back in my box now.
Re edited cos the car is a Sport not a CS, not quite the same car but very very close, basically they just weigh slighly more.

A good few people buy a fine sports car - because they like it. It looks nice - you know what I mean. Or perhaps because it sounds good.
And from time to time they enjoy the acceleration.
I imagine this group of sports cars enthusiasts makes up a fair percentage.
Of course..keen drivers also want a sports car. I think there is a difference between a real driving enthusiast and a sports car or marque enthusiast (look at the concours lot...I'll never understand that) but there's room for both, eh?

Got to agree iguana. Why bother? Still it takes all sorts I suppose. Also allows nice 100,00 mile "barely used" sports cars to come onto the market at cheap knock down prices, for us lot to buy and thrash the crap out of.
Personally I pay too much to keep my car on the road not to drive it how it was designed to be driven (when conditions allow of course).

But just think how much he's paid to wally
about like that.
To say nothing of all the extra taxes he's paid as well.
This sounds like a result for Stuttgart.
Buying something and not using for it's intended
purpose.
