Every time I look at other threads/sections on Piston Head there seems to be someone slagging off a Porker of some kind (mainly on the TVR side of the board)

I've had loads of different car and liked various aspects of all of them. Some were deeply floored and didn't last long, but I'm glad I've owned them.

I fail to understand how a certain brand can piss some people off so much, maybe it’s the image it evokes, but this just seems ridiculous to me, to dislike an imamate object and to spout off about it to anyone who’ll listen.

Why does the Porsche brand evoke such a response ?

cer-ber-a. cer-ber-a. i haven't had an allegiance for years, it wasn't reliable enough.

and i didn't swop it, i part exed it for a cluster of wing-ed monkeys, who are currently being trained to do my bidding.

As we've seen the message gets home eventually where there's any judgement to play with, like you might expect on PH but don't always get.

probably because porsches always win car of the year awards, when theirs dont.

Probably also because Porsche is truly independant and is one of the most successful companies in the world.

Probably because porsches shouldnt be, but are so much quicker round circuits and on most roads..

probably because they are fundamentally reliable.

probably because deep inside..though they will deny it and deny it ..they all really want a gt3.

Nothing wrong with Porsches , coming from a Tiv driver they are pricey though , I would quite like a 964 c4 - the safe one - when I can find the excuse to buy a second occasional car , been reading your threads , very helpful , I would imagine lots of Tiv folks do - probably the best sports car ever for everyday use ! They hold their value too which some cars don't!

Some women pretend they dont like Porsches.....however they usually have a Porsche driving boyfriend.....my wife loves Porsches if she is driving, doesnt like me out in mine on my own, too many women look at it apparantly

What do you mean by that exactly? Where the money is, that's why you see loads of them there maybe?

Or is it the old yuppie idea?

hmmm...interesting thread, philosophically

the reality is however that I care not. Not a sausage or a bean. I dont give a flying fig what anyone else thinks of me or my car. I love love love love love love love love my porsche. I think it is an utterly utterly brilliant car. Fast, sexy, completely competent. what more could one ask for? (ok maybe a 993 turbo but that isnt the point). and if others cant see that then tough. who really cares? I feel so benign that the next TVR I pass, I will spend my very own money calling the AA on my mobile for them

p.s i also love wine...hic
