Headlamps upgrade on 993

Is a £300 aftermarket litronics kit the only way to go or are £60 a pair bulbs like these any good?

Litronics are proberly the best option....if you want to spend 300 notes.

Personally I was more than happy with the improvements I got from fitting 50%+ style bulbs such as these www.powebulbs.co.uk. particulrly for the cost of a round of drinks.

I have heard some people say on forums, they were not over impressed?

I reccomended them to a few mates who are more than happy and personally thought it was the best improvement/cost I ever did on my car.

I paid a lot less than £300 for mine. Easy to fit too.

where from if you don't mind me asking?
the lights on mine are about 1 candle power thinks I'm going to ask for this for christmas.

Don't piss about with bulbs, go for the hid. The difference is truely amazing. I'm shortly going to be offering a kit to upgrade the rear lights and front indicators to LED - Looks truly amazing.

Headlight bulbs do seem to dim with use, so repacing them with anything brings improvement.

As per the other thread, cleaning the lenses gives the biggest improvement. Very simple to do. Also fitted Osrams Silverstar +50 bulbs that do very well in the Autoexpress reviews. Massive improvement.

The lights are good enough for me now. Before they were borderline dangerous.

Absolutely correct.

On a scale of 1 to 10. The standard headlamps rate 1, use the uprated bulbs and clean your lenses and they will rate 2 to 3. Fit HIDs and they will go straight to 8/9.

vs? how about light school? Ive been thinking about the lights since you first put news of them on the forum. I reckon we could line all the 993s up that want lights and you can check we do it properly. I'm quit happy operating on humans but hurting the porker makes me squeamish

Well i've put RSR's on for a few people now, and headlights for a couple of people too, so if you're not sure about it you're welcome to come over. I'm in Berkshire, near junction 10 of the M4, and i'm always happy to put the kettle on at the weekend and help out a fellow PH'er.

Did 993_C2S's RSRs last weekend - almost made me wish i still had a n/a 993, that noise is just fantastic. Still working on an exhaust solution for the 993tt as i didn't like the muffler bypasses or the RSR's, and it came with Litronics so no worries there.

Note - this HIDS4U kit is 6000K colour temperature which is bluer but actually not as bright. The brightest colour temperature kits are around 4100K to 4300K colour temperature.

Wherever you order from, for dipped beam on a 993 C2 you need the H1 kit. You'll find that the dipped beam HID is almost as bright as the full beam normal halogen bulb, so you won't be using full beam very often anymore...

edit: just checked the site i got mine from and they have a sale on, so the 4300K H1 kit would be $380 CDN which is £150!!!

Are you sure about that? The front page of their site says "Prices in USD" - 380 USD is more like £215, plus shipping I assume.

dan, you're right - they used to be in Canadian dollars, now in USD, don't know about shipping but it used to be included in the price (DHL worldwide).

Do you have to have headlight leveling?, I want/need to fit some, but with 900/1200kg springs the car tends to bounce around a bit, could end up dazzling the owls!
