Headlamp Upgrade on 996

With the onset of seemingly near-permanent winter darkness and the earlier 993 post, I have decided to switch to HID. Question is - what's the best kit and its cheapest price?

I was thinking of doing a 996 HID u/g too....Pete (verysideways) sent me the same link as on the 993 post, they'd be the people I'd use, simply because VS is happy with his setup....be slightly aware that *technically* the HID u/g wouldnt pass an MOT, as factory-fit Xenons have an auto-level adjust, which the lamps go through every time they're powered on (IIRC)....aftermarket ones don't have this, soooo, when it comes to MOT time, allow 20-30mins to swap the old lamps back (of course if Plod stops you and starts getting inquisitive, then it could get tricky if he's had a bad day!)

Can't you just get the Porsche litronic units for the pre-facelift cars? Think I've seen them on ebay.

I think the self leveling happens constantly as well, not just on startup.

996 uses H7 bulbs IIRC

I was under the impression that the headlamp washers and self levelling rules were only for new cars. Retro fit systems don't have the same regulation.

Could be right, Agent...I'm no expert, just snippets of info I've picked up whilst looking at changing on the Scoob (lethal light levels, really horrible).
