Teardrop mirrors - Glass removal

The drivers side mirror on my car has started working intermittently.Adjustment works one way but not the other.Does anyone know the procedure for removing the glass?
IIRC, there is a tiny hole underneath in the housing which you can see some sort of sprocket,and I thought this has to be turned one way or the other tp release the glass....
Like I say, just want to be doubley sure before I end up phoning up for a replacement mirror

You need to put a small flat ended screwdriver up into the hole. This will stop against a plastic ratchet/cam thingy inside the housing. From recollection you flick the screwriver anticlockwise and the mirror glass is released from the rear mechanism. From personal experience, getting it back on again is a right royal PITA and always runs the risk of breaking the mirrorglass(about £50 to replace). If I were you I would with the benfit of hindsight pay an Indy specialist to do the job. That way they pick up the tab for any broken glassware.
